In the interests of complete accuracy, Usyk is also a two-time undisputed champion.

And MJ is IMO the most credible threat left at 122, until Nakatani gets there, or maybe Bam. That's the fight I most wanted to see at 122 anyways.Comment

This is the organizations clearly trying to break up the belts.
IBF has already ordered Inoue to fight Sam Goodman which he is supposedly negotiating already.
So I don't know how the WBA are now throwing this one in there other than to force a belt being vacatedComment

The greatest thing about this mando is that it severely kills the chance of having to waste an Inoue fight against Doheny, and makes my personal first choice opponent MJ jump in front of the line.
MJ @Wembley in September, Goodman at Japan or Australia in December, Venado in US next May come on (I can dream)
I can't imagine it happening. Naoya hasn't fought 3x in a year since 2017Comment

I don't think Inoue cares that much about his "brand." He's one of very few fighters that is interested in testing himself against the best, and uses his cash cow status to make the big fights, rather than play primadonna. Inoue fights wherever he needs to in order to make the fight. And I think we should be grateful that he DOESN'T worry about "his brand" as much as proving himself, quietly and repeatedly, against the best available competition.

Agree with all points, except that I would like it to be co-feature on the next AJ card. MJ is probably the best name opponent left for Inoue at JFW, but I really believe (like most fighters) he's made to order for Inoue. It will be another highlight reel KO performance that ends inside of 6 rds.Comment

If AJ went to Japan that makes sense. But not in England. Yeah, Inoue is the superior fighter, but Joshua fills England seats. Plus, heavyweights are always a bigger draw (take the pun or leave it).Comment
