Richard Towers who was 6'8" and sparred with EVERYBODY said his power was in a league of it's own

“I’ve sparred with every heavyweight you could think of, except Joseph Parker. And I know when it comes to power, Deontay Wilder is in a league of his own," Towers said, as cited by The Sun.

“Put it this way: He hits FOUR times harder than Vitali Klitschko, he hits FIVE times harder than Wladimir Klitschko, he hits SIX times harder than Anthony Joshua, and he hits EIGHT times harder than Tyson Fury,” he added.
Richard Towers, a now-retired heavyweight boxer who has sparred with the biggest names in the game, says that Deontay Wilder’s natural power is vastly superior to that of Tyson Fury.

Obviously, the AJ "English Muffins" & PBC haters will take his current state as an opportunity to trash him every chance they get, but people who actually sparred with him & fought him say his power was much higher than anybody they fought, including David Haye.

oh yeah that sounds very credible. 5 times harder than wlad? 6 times harder than joshua? thats obviously not true and is silly. this is all just part of his hype machine. this is another quote from towers

"Me and Deontay are friends; we sparred in Sheffield, London, even my kitchen," added the Yorkshire born fighter. "We're very close"

i bet malik scott would say wilder is the hardest puncher ever too even though he clearly took a dive. these are just yes men and friends of his saying things that they know wilder likes to hear. his record shows his power evaporated when faced with the better fighters now whether that was because he couldnt land it or because it was mostly hype doesnt really matter but if you only have a 25% ko ratio against top 10 foes you arent a huge puncher definitionally

Maybe wilder padded out his resume with bums for too long. So by time he stepped up to top 10 ranked fighters, he was in his 30s? Left it too long wilder

If he didn't have actual, bonafide, elite, all-time power - we would not know of him and he would have never gotten anywhere at all with his late start in the sport and his litany of flawed mechanics

Maybe it's just easier to ko bums? The most likely explanation

We know of him because he had a high powered promoter and a network backing him. We know of him because they wanted us to know him. He's basically an industry plant. He had the connections to get him an easy title shot and the connections with haymon and the pbc to keep matching him soft in his title defenses. He overstepped against fury and that was that.
