It was more than a light arm punch. Cacace knew he'd hurt him too the way he came straight after him.

No blame for Cacace at all, but that ref had a shocker throughout. He had no control of that fight.

I thought it was odd he allowed Cordina to take a drink mid round too.

The late punch was clearly impactful but honestly I think Cordina had already been rocked in the prior exchange when he was laughing at Cacace. I think it was a batter of time with or without the late punch.

Looking forward to this rematch, the first fight was really good but I think Opetaia is a bit more experience now and Briedis is getting up there in age, so it might not be the same.

I remember about a decade ago Danny Green made it kinda relevent at Crusier.

There have been a few notable fighters over the years to carry the IBO mantle but mostly it's just a token. Lomachenko apparently didn't pay the sanctioning fees when he beat Kambosos because there is no IBO lightweight champ on their website.

But a lot of recent heavyweight titlists kept the IBO belt (I think because the IBO doesn't charge heavyweights a sanctioning fee for the publicity), Golovkin respected it enough to win it twice and defend it a total of 20 times, and a lot of women fighters respect it simply because the IBO has been awarding female championships longer than the big 4.
