He looked okay at the 150 halfway point. If Floyd had not fake retired to avoid the rematch I'm sure you'd agree.

The answer is de la hoya was supposed to fight Floyd in a rematch at 147 in September 2008. So oscar fought Forbes at 150 in may 2008 to prepare for floyd at 147.

once Floyd decided to retire. Oscar said he would fight the cott vs Margarito winner in December 2008 instead. With cotto being the intended target. Margarito beat cotto in July 2008. Oscar then chooses Pacquiao as the dance partner.

Oscar was fighting at 147 that year whether it was Floyd, cotto, or pac. But he should have just made Margarito come up to 154. Or fought a old head fight with Winky Wright at 160. Winky would have been coming off a ppv loss to Hopkins at 170 in 2008.

      Oscar screwed Oscar

You might want to watch the Forbes fight again and remember Forbes was a LW just beaten by Demetrios Hopkins at 140, Oscar should never have struggled the way he did here against a Forbes level small guy, the score don't tell the story.

Either way, the next fight DLH had would have been his last.
          He cashed out.

Most people don’t know what it’s like to be weight drained like that. A lot of people nowadays are overweight and don’t know how much physical energy you lose when you’re underweight. The minimum walk around weight for DLH’s height is actually 154lbs, and that’s just bare minimum. A very healthy DLH should’ve been 160-162lbs in the ring.

Oscar De La Hoya both underestimated Manny Pacquiao's ability, and how difficult it was going to be for him to make the 147 pound weight limit.

This was why? When Manny Pacquiao was matched against Miguel Cotto? I was backing Cotto to beat Pacquiao.

Not only was Miguel Cotto skill for skill, a elite level fighter 'He would be stronger and more comfortable at Welter Weight than Oscar De La Hoya'.

The slight catch weight of 145 pounds was abit unnecessary 'But I still thought Cotto would be just too strong, and fundamentally solid'.

From Oscar De La Hoya to Shane Mosley, like I stated in my first post? That run of fights was awesome 'There has not been a run of fights, as brutal or influential since that stage of Pacquiao's career in boxing'.

Note: The reason why fighters like Mike Tyson, Manny Pacquiao and Prince Naseem Hamed 'Regardless of the statistics of their careers, are held in such high esteem. Is because how they won, the action that was produced in their fights. The level of performance' etc.

Some of you make it appear that the smaller fighter is the one automatically benefitting from a catch weight. And that is the reason for Pacquiao's sucess.

Pacquiao was LINEAL CHAMPION AT FLYWEIGHT and now the OLDEST WELTERWEIGHT CHAMPION IN HISTORY.

Can't accept how great he is and greater than Mayweather? Racism. Now it's Inoue being accused of many things.

Without a doubt the weight cuts for both Oscar and Cotto had major effects on those fights especially Oscar, I would bet good money on both versions that fought Floyd at 154 would beat Manny but we will never know as he flat refused Cotto at 154, you would think its still Cotto isnt it the guy you battered, they knew ,, and looking back over the career from Diaz onwards Team Manny realized big time what weight was doing, he did it to Cotto Oscar Algieri and JMM, weight was also a big factor in negotiations with Oscar Mosley and Cotto, I take my hat of to Mannys matchmakers they did an unreal job that was made way easier by Mannys action style and humble demeanor, and he could really fight.

For the thread Manny could never beat Floyd, if that wasnt apparent back then, then today its as plain as day. Floyd would also go through Mannys resume undefeated, and if Manny had fought through Mayweathers resume he would have more losses than he has now, hell of a good fighter with great accomplishments but he aint beating Floyd from 130 up at any time you like.
