Canelo has taken serious challenges, I'll agree but the biggest problem I'm having with Canelo and this notion of, oh, I taken a lot of hard fights so I don't anymore. Maybe that would be ok if he wasn't holding the titles hostage. If he wants to vacate the titles and go in his merry way, it's cool, but if you want to call yourself the undisputed champ then you need to defend against all comers.

I didn't call Canelo a duck because he never really ducked anyone, not coming to terms with someone who wants a lot of money is not a duck, but this, this is a duck because David offered him all the money and he still declined, so this is a duck, and he needs to prove he can beat Benavides before he calls it in

I'm pretty sure it stems from holding the belts hostage for 2 years and refusing to fight the number 1 contender. That undermines the whole concept of being champion. He is actually not getting enough hate, what he has been doing is criminal.

Canelo has fought all the big fights there is to fight. Mungia is actually a huge fight. Fighting benavidez and winning does nothing but have people crying about fighting morrell.
i think its unfair that nelo gets to sit on the belts but why isn't benavidez calling out morrell and mbilli for fights? Plant was a solid win but he was never any real threat and andrade has never done anything note worthy. I hate this chase the payday era that we are in

Trout had a real belt. And the fact you are needing to go back a decade says it all about Canelo. He has been carefully micromanaged his whole career, even coming up his first title was vs bum mathew hatton, a welter fighting at a catchweight for the 154 pound title. Half of canelos titles have come from UK fighters.

Benevidez bout to fight at LHW and if successful maybe get a title there(I don’t think that’ll happen) but that just tells you the size difference in the two lol.
Unless ryder took a dive, mungia looks much improved. He looks like a legit smw size wise and he has enough power and stamina to make canelo work. Canelo is clearly on the downside so mungia can outwork him. A canelo win isn't a forgone conclusion

              GGG 40 yrs old/never fought at 168
              Ryder
              Jermell/never fought at 168
              Munguia/wrong mexican opponent

and jermall is rumored to be next. Also never fought at 168.

the proof is in the pudding. Facts over opinions

As the writer correctly pointed out size didn't seem to be an issue when Canelo had plans about fighting for a cruiserweight title or proposing a fight with Usyk at a 200lbs catchweight... or was he simply doing what he always did; plotting against the lowest lying fruits in the respective divisions?

I'm honestly surprised he isn't given a little more grace, I know he isn't always fighting the best available opposition but who in this era is.

Most if not all fighters of this generation are just sitting on their thumbs taking gimme fights waiting on the big cheque, why are only certain fighters held to a stranard and others are not...
Other great fighters don't go around claiming they're "the king" and repeatedly spewing the narrative that they're the greatest fighter in the sport. Canelo needs to feel he is the best (he clearly isn't) to feed his ego. He is detached from the reality of boxing and is incredibly arrogant.

I'm praying Munguia knocks him out unconscious - if ever there was a fighter who deserved to be violently put to sleep it's Canelo, for his attitude and entitled behaviour.

What are you talking about? David has earned the fight, unlike Canelos last 4 opponents. Ranked 1 for 4 years, interim and his mandatory lol. None else is even close.
