Comments Thread For: Jose Ramirez Buckled, But Ultimately Beats Rances Barthelemy

Jose Ramirez weathered a shaky moment or three Saturday in Fresno, California, to overcome Rances Barthelemy in front of a raucous local crowd and perhaps place himself back into world title contention.

Garbage fight. Jose Ramirez stays fighting washed up opponents. Then he wonders why he lost the fight when he stepped up

This cherry pick nearly turned disastrous. Not sure which of the champs Ramirez has a shot against based on this near disaster.

Barthelemy hasn't been super active but he's never really been beaten badly either. The Russell fight was a bogus stoppage. He's a hard guy to fight against and Ramirez himself is pretty clearly past his prime as well after consecutive fights with Imam, Orozco, Zepeda, Hooker, Postol, Taylor, Pedraza, and Commey.

Basically, Barthelemy is a little less washed than people think and Ramirez is a little more washed than people think. Made for an entertaining scrap.

none of them, keep away from all of them that's for sure. Cruz would be entertaining while it lasts (don't think it lasts that long) Subriel Matias would be career ending or worse if you get my drift. Teo knocks him out easy Haney still outboxes him easy as well.

I always felt this dude was overrated. He avoided Prograis. PROGRAIS. That tells me a lot.

Ramirez was eating those left's. He was not adjusting. Almost got stopped in the 4th. Ref kinda saved him. It was a clear knock down.

if Barth didn't get too excited and punch Ramirez in back of head while down.

it would've been a different fight.

This card showed that Vergil has a future.

                Ramirez not so much.

Ramirez came close at least three times to getting Barthelemy out of there but couldn’t or wouldn’t press enough. Still a fun if frustrating scrap. Better than anticipated.
