Comments Thread For: Did Bigger Make Better? Ryan Garcia Overpowers Devin Haney in Shocker

Just curious, but isn't Haney normally outweighing his opponents by significant amounts? Not sure what fight you were watching but Devina lost that one...it does no good winning points when you are getting dropped regularly. Devin decided that this was going to be his Gatti-Mayweather moment, but turned out he was Gatti. -
Loma should have got the nod, George is domestic level Australian and Regis is getting old. Haney is now gonna have to beg for 20% in a boring fight against Shakira Stinkinson.Leave a comment:

LOL, The dirty motherfucker deliberately tipped the scales as a welterweight because that was his best chance of winning the fight.
He never had any intentions of fighting Haney on an even playing field. He knew if he had he would have gotten his asswhooped.
However yet and still he lost the majority of those rounds to Devin anyhow due to his inactivity. In my opinion; Even with those three knockdowns he still lost the fight.Last edited by champion4ever; 04-21-2024, 05:26 AM.Leave a comment:

Credit to Garcia for proving so many of us wrong. Coming in overweight does take something away from it though. A lot of fights might have turned out differently if one guy was allowed an extra 3lbs.Leave a comment:

Ryan proved me and many others wrong. I just hope he doesn’t become another Amir Khan (what could have been).
Still rooting for Haney to put things right. Haney seemed too emotionally invested from opening bell - didnt seem to have agility - he needs to step back and not let Ryan get into his head and his Dad needs to calm down as puts way too much pressure on him.
I believe Haney is a champion and will come back and prove doubters wrong. He is made of different mindset. This and Loma loss (that he should have run back) will define him.
I'd say Khan maximised his potential. He wasn't unprofessional, he lived the life and did as best as his talent allowed him to. He was a quick handed but vulnerable fighter, not the greatest ring IQ, hence poor foot positioning at times leaving himself exposed.
I think Khan did about as well as he was ever gonna do. Beat some good names, lost to some good names. Won a title.
I don't see any similarity between the two outside of the ring.Leave a comment:

That was the punch that had most leverage but it only half caught Haney and he was still shaky.

Yes the big butt hooker last night was very much well worth it. I'm bout to go in again for some 5am type shut but.... yes I heard The Freaky Shieki came to talk to Al because he realized if he is to accomplish anything he needs to talk to the guy that controls not just 90% of US fighters but 90% of the major venues they fight in as well. Good move Mr Turki. Now only if Eddie Heran would've done that in 2018 instead of this ****** "American takeover" then maybe things would be a lot different.....I wonder......well I'm going back in. Wish my heart palpitations luck!Leave a comment:

The win for Ryan Garcia definitely wasn’t a shock, it was a shock to those who believed he was spiraling out of control etc in the lead up to the fight, and with Haney still holding the belt it makes the rematch even more interesting and definitely more $$$$$$$$$$, but running it back will be the same result although I think it will end up either a UD or early KO and Garcia will be the new championLast edited by iceman1; 04-21-2024, 04:19 AM.Leave a comment:
