    "Muh face of boxing"

How many of these overused, cringe slogans do we have now? I'll list a few, add your own.
    1. Muh A side.
    2. Muh nothing to the table.
    3. Muh face of boxing.
This need to define something as the absolute best seems to be a social media generation obsession. Whatever is happening - right now - is the most important thing that's ever occurred (in their view).

Is any other sport as impacted by the cultural tides of social media as boxing?

    MMA

Fight sports are different because competetors only actually compete 30 times not ever week or every few week

    Everything is sensationalised and overblown

MMA is actually worse because literally whoever wins the main event at UFC 720 or 721 or whatever the most recent one is become THE GOAT

All the MMA fans are now saying there's not a man alive who could take a straight right hand off Alex Pererra

It’s the same as the instagram girl phenomenon. Surgically and chemically altered bodies, with the aid of flattering lighting, lenses, and in some cases, editing.

Its all about having and being “the best”.

Only in this day and age do we have young men comparing Margot Robbie to their favorite cam girl and calling Robbie “mid, a strong seven at best”.
Only in this day and age do we have the tired argument “these big heavyweights would destroy all the heavyweights of yesteryear!” My all time favorite boxing scene cringe: “Deontay Wilder would have knocked out Ali in the 1st rd!!!”

It's especially ****** for them to use the phrase right now because there isn't a face of the sport. Boxing has always been tribal, most boxers appeal to their own demographic primarily. The 'face of the sport' is the guy who goes beyond that, which nobody has done since Floyd/Pac. Canelo is a big star with Mexicans, but everybody else is tired of his ducking and BS. AJ is a big star with Brits, but the rest of the world never bought into that. Tank hasn't fought for a year and has dodged every threat. None of these guys are the face of the sport, none are as recognisable to the general public as the top boxers of the past were.
