He was at least 35 plus years of age for all these fights after an extensive amateur career of approx 350 fights. He pretty much fought a fresh 30 year old, peaking, in ring cruiserweight Danny Jacobs while he only weighed 170lbs on fight night. He then beats Canelo (who wore hard winning horse hair gloves, illegally stacked hand wraps and was probably juiced to the gills) 116-112 in the first fight, should've got the nod in the rematch despite Canelo using clenbuterol to prepare for the fight and just nicked the Derevchenko fight by virtue of the knockdown. Not bad for a fighter the wrong side of 30.

Yeah, I don't know if it was as much as him stepping up in competition, as it was competition finally stepping up to him.

Yeah, you’re right. That had to be the only reason, because people hate iron-chinned boxer-punchers with power in both hands who walk their opponents down like the Terminator to produce some of the more spectacular KOs in the sport.

Well it looks the cinnabon did sent one of the greatest middleweights in boxing history straight to retirement. Guaranteed first pick HOF within 5 years tho.

Never knocked down in his career. One of the greatest chins in boxing history. Canelo almost cracked it but it never broke.

I think Canelo is whiter than GGG...

marvin hagler was retired by 32. the competition came to him at 35 because they thought he was aged. but he still beat jacobs and canelo.
