Agree with all of that, his large body of work against quality fighter regardless of where they were at the time is what puts it into a HOF resume in my mind. The best fighters he fought, GGG, Lara either ended in controversy or unimpressive wins for him. Trout at the time was a solid clear win, Plant appears to be a good win and would look better had he not just barely survived against Benavidez.
Rate Canelo's resume.

The funny part is that people try to force that label on Tank Davis, who has one of the most pathetic resumes of anyone in the P4P list. Might as well pick from a hat at that point. Or acknowledge Jake Paul.Comment

And yet, he outlanded ginger even counting the punches he made him miss or caught on his arms.
I agree, though that is kind of difficult to see which are the peak fighters he beat which to me are Smith, Kirkland, Trout, GGG at 160 (declined but still quite dangerous), Jacobs (despite the rehydration clause), Saunders and Plant. All pretty good fighters though majority wouldn't be Hall Of Fame excluding GGG. Not sure if Erislandy Lara should be included, it is said to be controversial, but he didn't have much activity when it came to punching.
The accumulation of these of wins and divisions won makes him a HOF, but to say he beat the best of fighters from different time periods, especially at 160-168 considering how close it was against his best opposition. No Marquee win where has utterly dominated a Great fighter on his peak.
He stands at 5'8 but the guy has a big frame, he is a natural Middleweight who got advantages over small Light Middleweights, some who actually debuted at 140 or below like Cotto/Mosley rehydrating 20+ pounds and good timing in a weak 168 division.
Cotto, Mosley, Kovalev and Charlo where at disadvantageous conditions AND had stipulations applied. Canelo might moved up to divisions to Light Heavyweight, but the Russian already had two back to back long stressful training camps and fought immediately two months later.

A good fighter with manufactured resume.
In reality, he lost to GGG and Lara also.
If Lomachenko had Canelo treatment, he would have wins over Salido, Lopez and Haney, for sure.Comment

Tyson Fury has a laughable resume and he's considered an ATG
