there might be something to do with being a self declared 'face of boxing'

canelo declared himself this but hes not quite living up to this lofty title, another recent guy to declare himself the face of boxing was tank davis, lets not get started on that one

maybe the face of boxing should have a little symbol stamped like a TM stamp except a little daffy duck

Is this actually gonna make people buy his next PPV fight? What would make Benavidez a bigger star is fighting Canelo, which they did not prioritize when they had Canelo at the negotiating table. Canelo willingly came over to PBC/SHO for Plant, but now he pulled the A-side card because he has all the leverage. Benavidez needs to become a free agent ASAP because the only relevant opponent PBC has is Morrell...and Benavidez seems to be avoiding him anyway. PBC also has no contenders at 175. Benavidez should go up and beat Gvozdyk, then go fight the Beterbiev/Bivol winner on another platform.

I think they thought the public would convince Canelo to fight Benavidez for the 3rd fight and they underestimated how much Canelo fears Benavidez. It was always smart to get his signature on a contract and work from there. Canelo is the one who made it a soap opera when it could have been so simple. He could have simply told PBC he wanted Benavidez in May, and instead of this soap opera we would have got an epic build up to a super fight.

Canelo ruined it all. Dan said today the three names on Canelos contract were the Charlo's and Spence. Canelo refused to even have David's name on the contract.

We told you he was scared to death.

It's foolish to believe that a cash-cow would go along with a bait-and-switch when he previously acquiesced once before (Plant). Why not be up front from the beginning, assuming they always intended to ask Canelo to face Benavidez? Even if they thought he'd duck Benavidez, transparency is always best. On the other hand, is it difficult to believe that PBC wouldn't think to prioritize David during the negotiation period? That the Charlos or Spence were considered to be more important? PBC clearly has a star-building problem, and this may be a prime example of their ineptitude. In the end, was Canelo/Jermell actually worth it? PBC now has to find a new main event for their May card. Losing Canelo may have blown up the entire card.

Ok so your another delusional PBC hater who thinks AL Haymon was too ****** to do something that any random person on this forum would have known was a lay up, in prioritizing the Benavidez fight which is the most lucrative fight in the sport. Apparently Haymon is just incompetent.

There was no real bait and switch. They offered to pay him 35m to fight drunk Charlo if they agreed to fight Benavidez. The fact Canelo refused should prove why Davids name was never on the contract. Pure Fear.

clickbait that only tells part of the story......

Canelo-PBC contract was for Jermell - Jermall - Spence. After Jermell stunk out the place, Haymon tried to cut the money for the Jermall fight. Haymon also wanted to change opponent for the 3rd fight, offering a Benevidez fight when he doesnt even have Benevidez under contract. Cant dangle opponents that you dont have promotional rights to......

Benavidez is PBC, he could dangle him. Keep coping. You need to be asking why did Canelo insist on 3 opponents would had never even fought at 168.

160, 154, and 147. That was his plan.
