It seems ****** for PBC to try and pull a bait-and-switch so they could manufacture a social media soap opera. Is any of this gonna make Benavidez a bigger star? Is this actually gonna make people buy his next PPV fight? What would make Benavidez a bigger star is fighting Canelo, which they did not prioritize when they had Canelo at the negotiating table. Canelo willingly came over to PBC/SHO for Plant, but now he pulled the A-side card because he has all the leverage. Benavidez needs to become a free agent ASAP because the only relevant opponent PBC has is Morrell...and Benavidez seems to be avoiding him anyway. PBC also has no contenders at 175. Benavidez should go up and beat Gvozdyk, then go fight the Beterbiev/Bivol winner on another platform.

I think they thought the public would convince Canelo to fight Benavidez for the 3rd fight and they underestimated how much Canelo fears Benavidez. It was always smart to get his signature on a contract and work from there. Canelo is the one who made it a soap opera when it could have been so simple. He could have simply told PBC he wanted Benavidez in May, and instead of this soap opera we would have got an epic build up to a super fight.
