We simply disagree on why Canelo is avoiding Benavidez and how PBC played a role in it. You believe it's out of fear, while I believe it's out of ego. PBC did not put Benavidez in the original agreement, and Canelo was not going to do them any favors because he's the A-Side. You think Canelo will not fight Benavidez at all, while I think he's delaying it because David isn't a top priority. I think Canelo may A-Side David into fighting him on DAZN. That's why I believe Benavidez should leave PBC.
Dan Rafael: Canelo Alvarez decided to part ways with PBC after turning down a Guaranteed 35 million vs Jermall Charlo as PBC included an agreement that Canelo must face David Benavidez in September

I'm assuming you're going to reference Sampson's $55M offer.Comment

It's foolish to believe that a cash-cow would go along with a bait-and-switch when he previously acquiesced once before (Plant). Why not be up front from the beginning, assuming they always intended to ask Canelo to face Benavidez? Even if they thought he'd duck Benavidez, transparency is always best. On the other hand, is it difficult to believe that PBC wouldn't think to prioritize David during the negotiation period? That the Charlos or Spence were considered to be more important? PBC clearly has a star-building problem, and this may be a prime example of their ineptitude. In the end, was Canelo/Jermell actually worth it? PBC now has to find a new main event for their May card. Losing Canelo may have blown up the entire card.Comment

I think we've gone through the possibilities in our numerous responses: 1) because Canelo didn't want it to be, 2) because PBC didn't ask for it to be. You said you thought it was smart to get Canelo's signature and work from there...but what's the point if Benavidez is not part of the original agreement? PBC is the one making Canelo the offer, so why can't they be held partly responsible? If PBC said, "we want you to face Benavidez as part of the deal, or we can't do business" and Canelo says "No, I'm good".... then we could've avoided Canelo/Jermell altogether and gotten better match-ups in Jermell vs. Tszyu/Crawford.Comment

I agree it is terrible opponent selection. But the better question is why did Haymon agree to it and sign a contract? He should have told Canelo to kick rocks.......Comment
