He’ll certainly be judged harshly for avoiding a fight with Benavidez, if that ends up being the case, but If Canelo retires this year, he won’t be judged at all for not fighting the others you mention. Why would history judge him negatively for not fighting Crawford who is three weight classes below him? Why would he be judged negatively for not fighting Beterbiev or for not rematching Bivol who are both much bigger than he is? The man simply ran into his size limit at 168 after climbing 4 divisions. Finally, unless Mungia and Berlanga (especially Berlanga) do a hell of a lot more before Canelo retires, why would he be judged negatively for not fighting them? Who were they ever?

I agree with you if he retires and stays retired. But if he continues to fight for a few more years without fighting any of those opponents it will reflect poorly upon his legacy.

Advanatges are facing shot, smaller, inactive, drained, waiting them out for bad performances or age, or not giving them enough time to train. I want wins that don't have robberies either.

Apart from size all of those other advantages you list are subjective. The same claims could be made about virtually any fighter. I think it’s a reasonable to cite instances where Canelo manipulated a catchweight or imposed a rehydration clause, or said his opponent had to wear two left shoes. Outside of stuff like that all the rest is b******t whining.
