Exactly because if he did fight him it wouldn’t matter whatever Canelo did before because if and when he would get brutally stopped that’s all everyone would remember
And that’s the truth
And it wasn’t too long ago Canelo was drinking his own kool aid talking about going up to heavyweight

“The fight with Benavidez may take a while or maybe never happen, but it depends on many things,” Reynoso told ESPNmx.
“There were fights that never took place, that of Lennox Lewis with Rid**** Bowe, that of Julio César Chávez with Terry Norris, that of Érik Morales with Juan Manuel Márquez, and none of them stopped going to the Hall of Fame for that.
The only reason you would be talking like that about a fight that could have easily been made for May is because you never intend to fight him. This is basically the closest you would get to a confession from team Canelo they going to duck.
That’s a confession of fear. The Canelo team FEARS Benavidez will be another fighter to stop the Canelo hype train, only this time he may get stopped. Canelo’s fans are casual mugs, they buy into this stuff. When he leaves boxing they will stop watching the sport. Canelo is a coward, plain and simple. And if you have a problem with how I put that when eat a dyk, with hot sauce if you want
Eddie can politic around using words such as legacy. But Canelo has been avoiding certain fighters by using weight classes 154 160 168 175. So his credit is due and earned. But he needs to fight THE MEXICAN MONSTER...bottom line or we know he ducking Benavidez
