The likes of Taylor probably took a lot out of himself being matched tough since the start. He fought Postol in his 14th fight, that was Bud's best win at the time.

Maybe in other divisions where they all avoid each other until they're cashing out in their 30s, they're not having too many tough fights and picking up wins against fading fighters.

Taylor certainly had a much tougher route to undisputed at 140 than Crawford did, there's no debating that. But its going to take its toll.
Possible, but also looks like pure speculation, which makes you wonder why the same doesn't happen in other divisions in which the top guys fight each other regularly. For instance, the much maligned lighter divisions that the bigots on here like to make fun of, regularly have the top guys fight. And the cream rises to the top.

At 140, the guys who were ranked top 4 at the time are losing to former champs and contenders from lighter divisions, and playing primadonna and not fighting each other again or any of the new guys. That makes it abundantly clear that the only reason they fought at all was that they lucked into a World Super Series with the big cash prize pool. Otherwise they wouldn't have fought each other and they would have behaved like the run of the mill belt holders in other weak divisions.
