Josh Taylor realizes his last two performances were the worst of his eight-year professional career. The former undisputed 140-pound champion can't believe, though, that some detractors don't even consider him an elite-level fighter anymore. The 33-year-old Taylor emphasized during a recent interview with IFL TV that he remains one

Taylor was never great. He benefited from being a white boxer that often gets the accolades before they earn or deserve them. Taylor at best is a good boxer that will win some at the top against the very elite, but lose to many. Teofimo Lopez exposed him for what he is, not a great boxer. Taylor is in the same class as Prograis..... overrated.

Great boxers got on with fighting rather than having lengthy spells of inactivity which they spent giving interviews talking about "muh A side", "muh split".

None of this generation are truly great. We're only seeing more undefeated records because of reduced activity and strategic picking of opponents.

I don't remember many of the greats getting absoloutley schooled by a smaller man, and that really was a schooling.

Some fighters just have a great few years and then burn out.

He was excellent at his peak and cleaned out his division, not many can claim to have truly done that.

Judging by the amount injuries he picks up, he probably wasnt built for longevity.

Stop messing around and fight then. Catterall not in your weight division so move on. Go get the Conor Benn fight instead

Everyone loses less you strictly target your opponents and don't fight everyone. Taylor lacks elitism. He's good but not great likewise with Regis. Both wouldn't be champs in a deep division which is proven.

Taylor's problem is chronic inactivity mostly due to injury: 9 months between Ramirez and Catterall, about 16 months between Gato and Teofimo. The last time he had three fights in a calendar year was 2018. The guy who fought Prograis and Ramirez isn't coming back.
