  • : Now Shane, on a recent edition of On the Ropes Boxing Radio, I actually had a chance to speak with Floyd Mayweather Senior and I asked him who he thought would pose the toughest challenge to his son from 147 down, and he said, “Shane Mosley”. Style-wise, why do you think Floyd Senior views you as the biggest threat to his son?

I’m the biggest threat to anybody at the welterweight division. Nobody can beat me. He knows that. All the fighters know that. It’s just the writers and some of the fans that don’t really know. They’re undecided. I’m really pound for pound the best. I am the best, right now. They can’t beat me. Floyd can’t beat me, Manny Pacquiao can’t be me—I am the best at welterweight. That’s why I have to go up to junior middleweight and fight people up there because welterweight is my division. They can’t beat me. I’m the King of that division.

this that your reading was an interview from another website and i dont know if i could do that but if im doing something wrong im very sorry but i just wanted some of you guys to know the truth....

Wait May only like WBC, Shane is the the WBA although I do agree shane is the man at that weight, he is jus not the biggest draw. They will fight after the money fights are out of the way. I just hope they both keep winning until then

            • EXCLUSIVE: 2006 MOSLEY WANTS THE LION'S SHARE FOR MAYWEATHER FIGHT!
              By G. Leon

Late last night, **********.com reached out to the Mosley's to see what the latest news was regarding their potential November 4 showdown with undefeated pound for pound king Floyd Mayweather. Although their Monday afternoon meeting with Richard Schaefer and Oscar De La Hoya was described as "great", we were informed that a deal has not been struck as of now and a follow up meeting has been scheduled for the near future. While we were not provided with detailed specifics, ********** can inform you that Mosley is currently requesting the lion's share of the money for the Mayweather bout to take place. Jin Mosley explained to ********** that she feels Floyd Mayweather Jr is delusional for thinking he's going to get the kind of money he's looking for and she made it perfectly clear that both her and Shane believe Mayweather should have taken the $8M to fight Antonio Margarito, going as far as to state, "you tell Bob Arum to give us $8M and we'll fight Margarito in November." Surely there will be much more to follow.

Mayweather fighting Mosley is the biggest pay per view fight boxing match out there outside of Mayweather-De La Hoya. If Mayweather beats Mosley, who has beaten De La Hoya and Vargas twice, then Mayweather-De La Hoya next May is a bonanza. It would challenge Lewis-Tyson (1.9 million) and certainly surpass Holyfield-Lewis (1.4 million) in terms of pay per view buys. One pay per view maven was practically salivating at the thought of a Mayweather pay per view daily double of Mosley and then De La Hoya. You could hear the cash registers ringing from his head. Cha-Ching!

First you have to convince Mosley to fight again this year. He wants to take a break for the rest of the year, he said he wanted to get down to 147 pounds, having overstayed his welcome at 154 pound (but he did pocket over $6 million in the process).

Mayweather joked (at least I think he was joking) that he was going to ask Jin Mosley, Shane's wife, if she would let her husband fight him in November. Jin Mosley helps her husband make business decisions, which isn't a bad thing. But boxing is a macho sport where that kind of input from a woman, particularly a wife, is frowned upon.

"I wear the pants in my family and she wears the pants in his family,'' Mayweather said.

Ouch! The first shot across the bow has been launched.

You can bet that there's going to be a lot of pressure on Mosley to make that fight with Mayweather in November. And there probably won't be much of a need for a circus after that one because the ringmaster, De La Hoya, would be next up for Mayweather.

Shane hasnt been the best business man in his career and he probably is mad at Jin today for missed opportunities like this one. Floyd went on to have 20 million dollar paydays showing he didnt and doesnt need Mosley till this day.

                  pretty much.

"Now correct me if I am wrong boxing buffs but didn’t Mayweather want to fight Shane after the second Vargas fight in which Shane proclaimed live to everyone watching HBO PPV that he had a sore tooth and needed a vacation? Or did everyone miss that or let it slip their minds?

Whatever the case you can YouTube that too. But this goes back even further then the second Vargas fight it goes back almost 10 years ago when Floyd was at 130 and Shane at 135 and Mayweather said he wanted Shane and Shane’s dad Jack said they would fight him for 8 figures when Shane was making low 7 figures and I mean low 7 figures. What does that say to you?

To me when you purposely price yourself out of a fight by that kind of a margin it means I thing: your scared and don’t want the fight. Mosley can say whatever he wants to the mainstream public but true boxing fans know what it is; he is at the end of his career and he needs Mayweather to make the kind of payday he has craved his entire career only problem is where was he when Mayweather and himself were young and Floyd wanted that same chance?

But now its ok to call a guy out and spread lies to the public and tell which bits and pieces of the truth that you feel necessary to make a fight happen."

He's made the worst business decisions of any elite fighter arguably in the last 10 years when it has comes to his career. Whether it be turning his boss down in a third fight for $10 million after beating him twice, going to fight Winky Wright in back-to-back fights for a little over $5 million or having an opportunity to fight Floyd in November 2006 for a career payday, $8 million, but instead he chose to get dental work done and take a family vacation after coming off a tremendous performance in the Vargas fight. Just a couple years ago after losing to Winky twice, he was fighting on an ESPN undercard and from there, an HBO undercard fight on Barrera's show. These are just a few examples of why he is very bitter and jealous of Floyd.
