There's a big difference between being an extra and a stuntman versus co-writing and starring in an independent film and then co-starring in an HBO series alongside Jodie Foster.

According to Deadline the season 1 premiere did better viewership than the most recent season premieres of Succession, White Lotus, or Euphoria so that seems like a pretty good sign.
