Anyone excited to see this?
For those unfamiliar, Kali Reis is a boxer turned writer and actress. In the ring she won the WBC middleweight title as well as the unified WBA/WBO/IBO super lightweight title.
She left boxing to co-write and star in the independent film Catch the Fair One, which received widespread critical acclaim. Now she's in the newest season of HBO's True Detective.
Cool to see a fighter cross over into the mainstream. Reis had a long road, having taken 5 losses and a draw before she won her first world title and having put herself through college to study criminology, then trade school to repair motorcycles, all while boxing and working as a bouncer. She took losses against top tier opposition like Cecilia Braekhus, Mikaela Lauren, Hanna Gabriels, and Christina Hammer. Really paid her dues, moved up and down in weight, fought all over the world (US, Germany, Bermuda, Canada, Spain, Costa Rica, New Zealand).
