I don't see all of these fights suggested for Crawford's next fight would be happening anytime soon. He's only interested in Jermell Charlo. Even that takes time to make as Charlo would take his time coming back for as long as he want. Not to mention the long arduous process of negotiating such fight. There's Tzsyu, Canelo, who else? He can mention Canelo's name all he wants for PR purposes, but I don't see Crawford making pro-active move to make it happen. I doubt he'll take on Tzsyu.

Crawford already achieved undisputed at 147. Ennis doesn't bring fame nor money. For a 35 year old, with not a lot more time at the top, 154 offers a lot more to achieve and a lot more money.

        So, why fight Ennis??
Agree that there are bigger legacy and money fights moving up, but if he stays at WW, Crawford has no excuse to fight anyone else but Ennis. A win over a top-rated young lion and heir apparent is also a big legacy win. Ennis and his team have themselves to blame though. As talented as he is, his complete lack of personality kills his star power.

Bud doesn't have to do anything. He can take other fights anytime he wants to now that the Spence side failed to make the rematch happen. There has to be a deadline to a clause. Otherwise, anyone can drag it on forever without repercussions.

Bottom line is Crawford can formulate his next fight if he wants to, but I don't think he's eager to go back at this point. Definitely it won't be Ennis he will be coming back to for his next fight. But I expect him to feel the itch probably late this year. For now, he doesn't mind Spence slowing things down for their rematch.

With six months since his last fight and no fight scheduled, that is the bigger issue than anything else for Boots Ennis. Would be great if for some miracle Bud decides to say yes for the Boots fight. I just don't see it.

Exactly before the 2 fight deal he was able to grab a fight on Black Prime vs David or ENNIS (for the trolls who play like they didn't call his dad about the fight)., Now he has to play eye injury with Spence and Haymon and get shelved. And if he took a between fight it is obvious it is going to be on Amazon Prime and opponent approved by HAYMON (for the trolls like Haymon is going to let him pick any opponent he wants in-between Spence fights)!

BTW eye injury is a delay tactic. He didn't have retina surgery and he has cataract surgery which requires only sunshades, not a captain hook eye patch.

                He may as well.

Spence is on the shelf for the next Quarter at the minimum and even then, Spence will DESPERATELY need a tune up. He doesn't take tune ups but after getting smoked by Crawford the first time. he better take a tune up.

Crawford sitting on the sideline for the next 3-4 months at 36 or whatever is not ideal for him most likely.

Crawford fighting some random generated boxer like he usually does would be absolutely criminal as well.

                May as well fight Boots.

Jermell should gatekeep him out like Crawford is doing Ennis.

The workaround would be Crawford moving vacating his belts to get an auto title shot at 154

But then that would force him to take Spence at 154 as well.

So, it is a bit of a poison pill that.

(I would suggest Jermell to gatekeep Crawford out of 154 just because he needs to avoid Crawford. If he fights Crawford, he's getting smoked. I have been humbled by Crawford. He really is HIM.)

Crawford deserves to do what the hell he chooses, if not pound for pound he dammmmm sure is in the top 3 spot, no matter what Gabe "fights for paychecks" Rosado thinks!
