Not hard to "beat the brakes off" a guy if the guy doesn't even try to throw a punch and just stands in front of his opponent and impersonates a punching bag, looking nothing at all like he did in his previous fights. I hope they paid him enough to trash his rep and career.

You do that when you're champion. Not when you're ranked 3 or 4... it's odd that anyone thinks he must fight everyone below him, while everyone below him should get to fight up the rankings against him. I'm not sure where Joshua's obligations come from.
In the meantime we've got a guy posting who seems to think it was fine for Fury to defend his title and number 1 ranking against Chisora and Ngannou while remaining otherwise inactive.
It's a very clear double standard.
What's double standard about Chisora he was ranked in the WBC high enough to justify it being a defence just like ****ters like Pulev, Takam, Povetkin were for Joshua.
Despite Pulev not doing anything since taking a beat off Wlad same with Povetkin and Takam being a late replacement.
It's not hard to pick apart people who are ranked by sanctioning bodies...
Pulev literally maintained his position after faking an injury by beating Rydell booker who? (sarcasm of course)
Povetkin got his position by beating Price which is beyond laughable.
Takam got his shot because Pulev faked his injury, he'd already lost to Parker, been obliterated by Povetkin and beat by Gregory Tony whoever the fúck that is...
Chisora hadn't beat anyone decent in years yet somehow got a ranking with the WBC to fight Fury.
Schwarz had a ranking because he had an intercontinental bauble
Wallin was highly ranked with the WBO based on god knows what before Ruiz beat AJ and dropped to like 9th after...
I could keep going with the example of how bad using rankings is for proof of opposition...Comment

Parker has tested himself and come up short on occassion but made no excuses or melted down afterwards and is keen to challenge himself to fight anyone, anywhere.
By the time Gentleman Joe's done no one will say he didnt try to clean out the division with class, humility, effort, heart and courage.
Like Usyk, a true warrior and worthy descendent of illustrious ancestors.
A-Side Joshy...meh, not so much.Comment

Sorry mate, but you're really reaching here. Wallin just got beaten by the better fighter. We all saw it.Comment

I'm sure he got paid well to take the fight. But it's a massive conspiracy theory to think that Wallin took a dive. He had more to gain by winning. And he was already in line for a title fight.

That counts for heaps...lolComment

Earnie shavers was never a champion, he's well known, he fought good ass names despite only ever fighting for the belt(s) once being a champion is not a prerequisite of fighting good competition.

They were mandatories (well one was a late replacement mandatory). Joshua had to fight them or drop his belts.
Chisora was a voluntary. I won't go into Schwarz and Wallin as Fury was free to fight who he wanted as a non title holder. But yes, they were poor opposition.
It's a massive difference.
Boro fan? Bad luck against Villa, by the way. Tough to lose on a late deflection.Last edited by Toffee; 01-06-2024, 04:22 PM.Comment
