I’m sure it won’t be hard to find someone that will try their best to justify this mismatch. Barrios is a C+ fighter with absolutely nothing in his arsenal that can bother Boots. He’s the new lesser version of Jessie Vargas

With still no fight scheduled yet, he'll be approaching one year layoff.

Being now a free agent, nobody knows what he's doing. Thurman and Barrios are not the only fighters in the division. There's still Avanesyan, Kavaliauskas, Benn, etc. If he wants to stay in the PBC premises, he can move up and tons of fights are available at 154. He doesn't have to start with Tzsyu or Charlo.

Ignoring , I would say more like protecting
From my understanding the weasel ( Espinoza ) will be tailing Uncle Al
He is young but by today’s standards , fighting once a year , these guys gonna get old fast
Boots is a great fighter from my eye test but needs to be way more active against decent competitors
Funny feeling he’s taking a page out of GGG’s book and gonna chase around A fighter ( Bud in this case ) looking for that big coin
If I were him , I would step up to Stanionis knowing full well he’d take the fight and get credit if he wins

Stanionis has been available for Ennis before and after the failed Vergil Ortiz fight. Thus, Eimantas had long periods of inactivity as well, yet for some reason Ennis can't get that fight. And Stanionis is on record saying he'll never say no to any fight.

Fighting Keef leftovers is now considered a "step up"??? But according to his breathless (and shameless) sycophants, Boots is the greatest thing since the electric nose hair trimmer.

It's a good name opponent for Ennis, although he wants the bigger names.

What else is he supposed to do? These other guys don't really want to fight 'Boots'. The guy seems to be one of those unique talents that stands out.

Of course, would love to see him against Crawford, an outstanding cerebral fighter.

This will likely be a unification fight since Crawford will vacate the WBC belt and Barrios has the interim strap.

I'd rather see Boots vs Thurman but Barrios will still be the best opponent Boots has faced. As of now a shopworn Lipinets remains his best win.

Yeah he is too inactive - starting to look like Andrade career management. I think he wants a definitive fight at 147 before moving up, 147 is quite thin really - before you had Thurman, Porter, Garcia, Ugas and Pac as a supporting cast to Spence and Bud - but now only Thurman is realistically still there and he imo is just looking for a cash-out at this stage - another guy who wasted his prime.
But he shouldn't just wait at 147 for the fights to come - I can see him unifying at 154 and then getting at least one belt at 160 - 154 is no great shakes either for great fighters but lots of good fighters

Golovkin was extremely active prior to the Canelo fights, and by the time he finally got them he was already on the downward slope.

Extremely active vs Wade , Murray , Monroe
Ii would say he was extremely busy chasing Canelo , fighting guys like Geale or Rubio making sure not to screw anything up for a soon to be 2017 finally ( lol ) fight with Canelo
That is why besides hardcore GGG fans , some discredit his career
Could of built his own legacy while Canelo was aging him out
Downward spiral or not , I thought he won that first fight
