I remember when they said AJ offered a fight, that was not an offer, they mentioned his that's all, and Whyte, I'll have read a little bit more about that, he did waste time and I'm pretty sure wasn't his fault. They take advantage of people that don't speak English all the time, and ruiz went through a lot of punishment to beat the old man, prime for prime my money is on King Kong.
How highly do you rate Luis Ortiz now?

ortiz's team admitted they were offered the fight and made a mistake by not accepting it so im not sure what you mean by saying it wasnt an offer? ortiz was all talk. when he was offered fights out came the excuses. im not ready! its never ortiz's fault! its always someone elses fault! he would always talk big when guys had fights scheduled...when they tried to fight him oh wait wait i cant fight! he was full of hot air literally and figuratively and his resume reflects that. he clearly was only interested in doing what the pbc had planned for him. if haymon took advantage of him then yeah i wouldnt be surprised. he does that all the time but he doesnt get a pass for beign tricked. i feel bad for him and maybve he really thought people were duckign him who knows, reality is he wasted his career linking with pbcI remember when they said AJ offered a fight, that was not an offer, they mentioned his that's all, and Whyte, I'll have read a little bit more about that, he did waste time and I'm pretty sure wasn't his fault. sorry lol. just because someone says sometihng doesnt make it true and ortiz talked big, but he didnt take any fights that were offered or offer anyone any fights. he was not ducked in a serious manner. he had huge power behind him with pbc and didnt do anything with it. some guys maybe didnt go out of there way to fight him but he also made sure not to go out of his way to fight anyone good. other pbc guys made sure to take fights, he didnt so you cant even blame pbc completely.Last edited by daggum; 01-04-2024, 10:19 PM.Comment

He was old and likely didn't want to take unnecessary risks that could knock him down the ladder. At least he tried twice vs Wilder.

yes exactly but the problem was while he was not taking any risks he was calling everyone out and saying everyone is ducking me so he looked tough and stayed relevant, but the truth is he already had his career mapped out for him, fight bums and continue winning, wait for a wilder fight. he did that which is fine but now we have to judge him based on what he did, not based on fantasy power. wins over jennings and martin? decent but not really impressive. thats why i use the ggg comparison. ggg was actually fighting highly ranked guys, signing to fight highly ranked guys like pirog, lee, etc...making other guys like saunders, quillin, etc...million dollar offers. all this while waiting for canelocotto/martinez to stop ducking him.ortiz was doing none of that but running his mouth while waiting for wilder who wasnt even the best in the division. just the pbc champLast edited by daggum; 01-04-2024, 10:41 PM.Comment

Jesus, do we still have people dumb enough to believe AJ ducked him.
could have had a mandatory shot back in 2017 but pissed hot and got himself removed from the rankings.
Then later got offered a career high pay day and his team got caught lying about being lowballed.
Theres even evidence that points towards him possibly being to blame for the Whyte fight not happening.
He skated by for years by being the boogeyman that passed the eye test.Comment

He was always cannon fodder for Wilder. They don't want to live with the reality Haymon pulled the plug on the 7 million for Ortiz and Kownacki (they didn't think the Swede would beat him because he was being fatten for Wilder also with his big Polish following). It was always about building Wilder's profile to make him 50/50 vs AJ. Couldn't have AJ stop the old man on BP medications.Jesus, do we still have people dumb enough to believe AJ ducked him.

I can hear them now. Ruiz beat AJ. AJ made the mistake of rushing in on a guy he thought was hurt and got caught with a template shot. Last I checked, Ortiz doesn't have Ruiz's hand speed which is an issue with any heavyweight who closes the distance on him.Comment

I think they understood the multi million dollar offer from Joshua.I remember when they said AJ offered a fight, that was not an offer, they mentioned his that's all, and Whyte, I'll have read a little bit more about that, he did waste time and I'm pretty sure wasn't his fault.
