Ponce was the favorite going in and Ergashev was an undefeated mandatory that was being hyped overseas as the guy to take Matias out.

Lest we also not forget, the only reason the Ponce fight happened in the first place was that Josh Taylor ducked Ponce and vacated the belt rather than fight him.

It's also a duck on the part that's sending the offer when you send it for a time that they know the opponent won't be able to make due to schedules.
