haney was supposed to dominate and punish loma but fell over the line if barely that or could have lost, must be a low bar this year i guess

haney also quite likely was 15 pounds or more heavier than loma in that fight, thats around 3 weight classes in and around which is nuts in itself actually i would say

vs a 35 year old loma who belonged at 130 pounds, he BARELY scrapped by that fight with a win. If it was a draw that would be reasonable. He had to weigh 20 POUNDS more than Loma on fight night.

at 140 - in his first fight he still weighed TEN POUNDS more than his 35 year old opponent. Guy was a flat footed plodder with the right style for Haney to look great.

please tell me again how this qualifies for fighter of the year? If anything I think Loma deserves it more for holding back a prime guy with 20 pounds on him in his mid 30s.

Yeah Loma belongs at 130 and Haney belonged at minimum 140. Haney was really 2 divisions larger than Loma, plus a 10 year age advantage and could have lost or been a draw. How many more advantages does he need? why was it so impressive when Teofemo did it more convincingly... please

Upset of the year should by rights have been Ngannou v Fury. Fighter of the Year for me is Inoue because Crawford only fought once, although rematch clauses are to blame. Andrade was always a hypejob. Tapales at least has wins against two world champions, vs zero for Andrade. Haney lost to Loma.

Except that Benav and Inoue didn't had 80% of people thinking they lost one of their fights.

Haney is widely viewed as having robbed Loma, a fighter who's smaller than him and a decade older. How does that fight and a win over someone like Prograis trump Crawford's undisputed humiliation of a Top 5 P4P fighter?

Lyle, I have no clue what you're thinking.

Not every close fight has to be called a robbery. The official record shows a win over Lomachenko and a win over Prograis.

KO of the year should be Nakatani on Maloney
