The only thing different as hopkins got older he threw less punches (pot shots) and was more defensive then ever. He wasn't smarter, he just knew at his age he had to slow the pace down.
I have seen his fights. He was far more agressive back then, which would not work against Calzaghe imo. Forcing Joe to come to you and countering is the way to beat him. Robin Reid almost did it that way too.

Cuts? He was knocking echols silly and the ref stopped it (TKO) and the same occurred against Glen Johnson. Neither fight was stopped due to cuts.

Some people (Those who haven't watched a prime B-Hop) don't now that he already that technically good.

Gotta disagree my friend. B-Hop in his prime had 15 round stamina. Right now, he is very perservative towards his energy. Notice that when B-Hop took that long break after the low blow, he did alot better. There is a huge difference and people have to watch B-Hop's earlier stuff to know this.

Lol, a lot of these clowns don't even know what a prime Hopkins was. They view the late 30s version as prime, when this si not the case. Hopkins in his prime would, outbox, outslug, and outman Calzaghe and grind him down stopping him late, probably with a barrage of body shots. Hopkins KO.

A prime Hopkins could fight any way he wanted to. Yeah he was more aggressive but he was as good a boxer then as he is now.

Hopkins was still very much a counter puncher in his prime, see Trinidad fight for example. He was more aggressive in the sense he threw more punches and combos but at the same time he was still very smart, defensive and a fantastic counter puncher. He fought differently based on his opponents skills/styles (he still does that).

Let's call a spade a spade. None of these ****ers even knew who Hopkins was before Tito, maybe even before Tarver.

That's what made B-Hop very unique. His style was to seek and destroy and he was very successful in doing that. What made him special is that he didn't get hit in the process. I don't think Calzaghe had the power to get B-Hop's respect, sort of like a Roy or an Echols.
