  • Comments Thread For: Shakur Stevenson Willing To Face Ryan Garcia Next at Catchweight

There's no other way to put it, Shakur Stevenson was flat-out boring during his showdown against Edwin De Los Santos. Fans at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, booed Stevenson mercilessly. Once they realized that Stevenson wasn't stepping on the gas and continued to play it safe, they refrained from booing and simply walked out.

They can say whatever they want about Stevenson and his style, but he's one of the few fighters in the sport that challenges anybody and everybody to come and beat him. Garcia, with how much of an underachiever he is, really shouldn't be talking about anybody, much less somebody far more accomplished than he is. Only accomplishment he's had is that he can sell tickets somewhat and that's only due to social media. If anything he should learn a thing or two from Stevenson boxing-wise. He'd probably be at the level he should be at by now. Like him or not, Stevenson is a textbook boxing genius.

Challenging and fighting are two different things. Keith Thurman challenges anybody and everyone too. Neither of them get in the ring much.

With respect to Ryan and the excitement he brings, Shakur would win comfortably.

Boxing is always business first, but I understand what you saying. Don't know about using Thurman as an example due to him avoiding Spence for the time that he did, but anytime Stevenson hears anybody say anything about him, his main response is to make the fight happen. He's a great fighter, but he doesn't sell much, so it gives everybody a reason to not want to fight him. Same problem Benavidez(another guy who is genuinely willing to fight anybody and everybody)had until his breakout wins this year. Even with titles, nobody calls Stevenson out or even try to entertain a fight with him bc they know he is a serious problem and the money ain't worth it. Can only fight whoever is willing to fight.

Ryan has been kind of exposed so I should be mad that Shakur would be saying he would fight him instead of an A lister, BUT I never want to see Shakur fight any enjoyable fighter to watch because it would be a waste of a good fight. He is BORING

When Ryan did a catchweight for Tank he made 30 million dollars. Shakur isn't bringing anywhere near that type of money lol.

Shakur Stevenson vs. Raymond Muratalla! MAN UP! I'd rather see Shakur fight Zepeda at 135, than Ryan Garcia at a catchweight!

Shakur may be the champ but Ryan is the "A side" He is the one people come to see and I doubt he will make that catchweight/rehydration bull**** again.
