I agree with Crawford. Ennis is up and coming. Crawford has worked his ass off to where he got. He's not going to let this up and comer who may or may not win benefit off the fight without putting in his own work.

If I were Crawford, I also would be seeking that finale legacy fight to end the career and walk into the sunset.

I also believe Ennis' stardom is being undervalued. He's not some unknown latino fighter who can't speak english. He's American, he's marketable, he's extremely entertaining and Crawford-Ennis is the best fight to make in boxing's most popular division and one of the best in the entire sport. The hype around such a fight would be real.
I think Ennis is an exciting boxer. But I don’t think Ennis stardom, at least currently, brings the buzz you think it does. He still an unknown compared to many other fighters at no fault of his own. He’s also stuck in a hard place with Showtime exiting boxing and another PPV source drying up. And Bud, despite being one of the greatest boxers ever, doesn’t generate a lot of fanfare, either. Sure, boxing fans would be all over this fight. But I don’t think it would generate as large a PPV audience as other fights Bud could make. Plus, Crawford is looking for the best “Swan Song” and payola fights with the two or third fights left in him. What’s next for Ennis? Can he book a match against a major contender? Will he sign with PBC? Ennis needs a backup plan to ride this out.

I really think Crawford has three fights left tops before he retires.

Assuming the Spence rematch must happen, in my perfect world where promoters and fight money shenanigans don't exist...
        1) Fight Spence at 154 to fulfill the rematch clause and tune up at 154. IBF gets someone to win vacant belt.
        2) Fight Jermell before he gets stripped any more to get his last two belts left. Tszyu and IBF winner unifies.
        3) Fight the winner of Tszyu/IBF to go undisputed in third division then retire into the sunset as the man at the top.

If the totally useless Spence rematch can be somehow cancelled, fight Boots just to get all four of 147 again then immediately vacate it and go up to 154. Repeat step 2 and 3 above.

        Realistic scenario I can expect:
        1) Fight Spence at 154.
        2) Fight Tszyu or the IBF winner or a slim chance Jermell for a belt at 154.
        3) Fight Canelo for retirement funding. Retire as four division champion (twice undisputed) with one loss.

Worst case scenario I can see happen:
        1) Fight Spence at 147 for a rematch adding nothing to his resume for easy money.
        2) Fight Canelo to sell his zero for retirement funding. Retire as three division champion (twice undisputed), one loss and lots of money.

I love Bud but Canelo just too much at 168. 154 the ceiling imo. Beats Spence again then Jermell or Tszyu, then retire. Everyone remembers your last fight, don't want to see him go out flattened by Canelo - 168 just too much.

I love Bud Crawford. My name is Bud but I'm older than him lol! I've been watching boxing b4 many of u keyboard warriors were born. I saw Ray Leonard duck Aaron Pryor. I still have not forgiven Ray for not giving us that fight. Yes Pryor turned down $500,000, as he should have. In any event, Boots has Bud's belt and told Bud to come get it back from him. That's clearly a direct challenge. He's calling Bud out. I get it, Bud is chasing big money fights. But money isn't everything. For years and years, everyone avoided Bud. The excuses were numerous, but they were all BS at the end of the day. They all said Bud hasn't got any belts, he couldn't sell flies, he can't put asses in seats, he's across the street, nobody knows who he is, he hasn't fought nobody, he's hype, he's over rated, he's got no chin, he doesn't bring anything to the table. Its turns out none of this was true, but repeated use of these excuses become a way to avoid a guy and fans will then go and repeat these excuses like chirping parakeets. Now ppl are doing the same thing to Boots and its very sad to see. And as much as I love Bud and was always one of his biggest fans, I have to call it the way I see it. After years of enduring the same kinds of BS abuse, lies, excuses, and being froze out of any big opportunities, Bud should give the young lion a chance to prove his greatness and also give the fans and the history books this fight because he knows Boots is more than worthy, The longer Boots' career goes on, the more proven he'll become and then it will become more clear to most that Boots was being avoided now, just like ppl now realize why Bud was being avoided for years and years, but because of all the lies and excuses, ppl didn't always see it this way

Spence was his first high profile opponent in his career. He didn't have the luxury of fighting four kings like Leonard or someone else. Now that he is at the mountain top, he can pick and choose his fights. This is good and his right but leaves a stain in the boxing public's mouth. #1 contenders have to work their way to the top to get a title shot. Boots has worked his way to the top and deserves a shot at fighting Crawford. Crawford had to work his way to the top to get his title shot. By making the statement he did about fighting Boots, he isn't honoring the time earned boxing tradition of the champion fighting the #1 contender.

They should strip Crawford of all of his titles and let Boots and the top contenders at welterweight fight each other. Crawford knows that deep deep down that Boots is one guy that could beat him. If Crawford were to take the fight train really really hard he could beat Boots. That fight would go a long way toward Crawford solidifying his HOF credentials. Lennox Lewis fought lots of #1 contenders during his day.
              Wait a minute..
Why should TC vacate all his Belts when he previously signed off on a Rematch with Spence?

So you should be calling out Spence for dragging his feet, right?

Matias is an up and comer looking to build his name. If he had a Canelo shot he wouldn't give a damn about his mandatories. As you well know.

I think you must get up in the morning and right down a "ten ways I can hate Crawford" list, and keep it handy all day in case you need motivation.

He's getting to the end of his prime. He wants a big money fight. Crawford fighting Ennis only raises Ennis' stock, it doesn't do much for Crawford. It definitely won't be a big PPV fight.

It's a great boxing fight, and could enhance his legacy like Mayweather did with Canelo, but it is not a mega-PPV fight that would get a ton of buys. That's what Crawford is going after at this point. If Ennis gets a huge win or two in the short-term ... maybe he jumps divisions or gets others to and KO's two of Charlo / Teofimo Lopez / Ryan Garcia, then he would be a big PPV guy and a target for Crawford.

Crawford recognizes Boots has talent, but fighting talented fighters is not the sole thing he's going after at this point in his career. Is he a bit of a hypocrite for doing that when complaining about others doing the same to him? Sure.
