Why doesn't Bud just stay at 147 where he's at his best and make future, big-name fights with Teofimo, Subriel, Haney and maybe even Tank.
A better answer: vacate the belts, fight who you want, and let the young guys come up and challenge for the titles among themselves. Especially Matias and Teofimo.

Crawford is obviously near the end of his career and is looking for that big retirement check. A fight with Boots won't provide that. What it would provide is a stiff challenge and possible loss for less money, so I fully understand Bud's position here.

That's what we respeck. Not a guy who calls out people in every OTHER weight class except his own while sitting on belts not defending them.
So you should be calling out Spence for dragging his feet, right?
Matias is an up and comer looking to build his name. If he had a Canelo shot he wouldn't give a damn about his mandatories. As you well know.
I think you must get up in the morning and right down a "ten ways I can hate Crawford" list, and keep it handy all day in case you need motivation.Last edited by Theshotyoudontsee; 11-28-2023, 04:45 PM.greeneye99 likes this.

Jaron Boots Ennis gets massive views just by mentioning Crawford. Good for him and his fans, if that's what they're interested in. Still no scheduled fight for the IBF champ. He's happy, his fans are happy. Crawford ducking doe.

That would be Canelo but everyone wants a payday against Canelo. Hell, I'm over 60 but I'll go back in training for a shot at Saul. To me, Jermell made the most sense since it is a two belt championship fight and another division under Crawford's belt. Tszyu would certainly be a challenge and another division belt but I'm not sure how much money can be generated by that tango.
I'm hoping that Crawford mandates any Spence fight at 147 lbs. so Spence can back down and Bud can chase other fights. There won't be much cleanup in the welterweight division after Bud leaves. Spence won't risk a fight with Ennis but I don't think Errol really wants to fight at 147 lbs. at all. Vergil Ortiz Jr.? That might be a money fight but the rest of the division is ho-hum. Ennis gets the short straw here, financial wise, but that's boxing. I know he's looking for a big payday as well.
I also believe Ennis' stardom is being undervalued. He's not some unknown latino fighter who can't speak english. He's American, he's marketable, he's extremely entertaining and Crawford-Ennis is the best fight to make in boxing's most popular division and one of the best in the entire sport. The hype around such a fight would be real.
