He seemed more willing to engage in his last couple of fights, but he reverted to his beginning style, which is avoid getting hit at ALL cost. I understand the "sweet science" but this was FAR from it. He wasn't avoiding punches, he was refusing to fight. BIG difference between what Hector Camacho did and what Shakur did.

If he was a no talented bum in some small town, oh well. He's proclaiming himself to be the BEST in the WORLD. So much so that he says people are avoiding him. Well they certainly aren't afraid of being hurt by him, that's for sure.
Ain't nobody on this planet that likes getting hit so your whole argument from right there is silly as hell. In case you didn't know, the name of the game is hit and don't be hit and that's what he did. It wasn't pretty, it wasn't entertaining, but he did exactly what he supposed to do. Of course he didn't fight the same way he did in the other fights you're talking about. This wasn't his other fights. Nobody fights every fighter the same way bc not not every fighter they fight is the same. That's common sense. Unless they're a Margarito-type guy who only knows how to fight one way. And look how that turned out for him. You gotta be new to boxing to be saying something like that.

And DLS isnt some straight killer, he went the distance his last fight with a midget and has been dropped and outboxed before.
Not every fight is the same and not every fighter is the same so you can't fight the same way against everybody. Common sense. DLS is a heavy handed guy and Stevenson fought exactly how he should've against a big puncher like him. Like it or not, he did what he was supposed to do: Stay out of harm's way and he came out with the win. Just like you and everybody else here, yes the fight was not entertaining, but if he did open up to make it entertaining and took an L trying please fans, all of you guys complaining that he was boring would be trashing him harder for losing. Can't have it both ways. DLS shoulda found a way to cut off the ring better to keep him from moving around and force the fight instead of boxing with him like he's the better boxer.

It is so funny reading all the excuses, from almost the same people that crucified Rigondeaux and Lara. Especially Lara against canelo. What a bunch of fakes, I do understand his strategy, de los santos should have take a more violent approach, shakur wasn't landing anything becase he wasn't throwing punches.

You sound like a casual in the regard that you think that qualified as boxing match, it was closer to table tennis.
The fact that you say "nobody is asking him to risk his life" while anybody that's ever been in a ring knows that just being in there alone is already risking your life tells me you ain't ever been in a ring with another man across from you waiting put that work on you. That was a true casual statement right there. That was funny tho I'll give you that.

It's not a matter of what I want. It's a matter of what is. I live in reality. Boxing ain't every other industry baby boy. That's the problem there. Silly slogans like "the customer is always right" are exactly the reason why the sheep of the world act like entitled b**** that think they're never wrong. Nobody or nothing is always gonna be right. This ain't no department store or Pizza Hut. This is boxing. If you don't like it, go visit a psychic before the fights with all the other "fans" on here and ask them how the fights are gonna go. Then you won't hafta worry about b%$^*ing and moaning about watching boring fights. Ain't nobody defending his performance. It wasn't great, but he did what he had to do against a worthy opponent and got the W. Simple as that.

Shakur was booed loudly yesterday and his stock dropped hard. Nothing you say is going to change that.

I actually liked the Rigo fight with Casimero. Thought he did a great job of hitting without being hit. Casimero was so frustrated. Couldn't cut off the ring for crap. My major critique was that he didn't have the killer instinct to capitalize on the numerous mistakes that Casimero made.

Both guys last night didn't look that good. DLS was able to more or less hang with Shakur in a very slow fight, so that's to his credit, but he's the puncher, and he never tried to go through the gears. I never felt like he came to win, especially since we JUST had an example of what that looks like in the previous fight. And Shakur was absolutely flat. That was his opportunity to show out and he didn't. Didn't even try.

And as for not feeling well, if you watch ONE championship, in the last Prime fight, Mikey Musumeci went up 20 lbs to fight Aoki, still got in the ring despite being in the hospital a few days before, and then submitted Aoki with a move that Aoki invented. That's what a champ looks like when he's not feeling well...

By purist I mean as in I watch the sport for the skills, abilities and toughness and not necessarily for the entertainment value. Of course, like all the kids here crying about fights being boring, yea I would love for every fight to be entertaining. But like it's said in boxing: styles make fights. Some styles mesh perfectly and some styles don't mesh at all. These boxing "fans" here acting like this is something new. If you assumed a fight would be a great fight and it doesn't happen, can only blame yourself for assuming it would be that. Nobody can predict how any fight is gonna go. Ain't that hard to understand.
I "assumed" there would be a "fight" nothing more (there wasnt one). All sports fall under entertainment, if you are watching, you are being entertained. Just because anyone is critiquing the performance that was displayed, doesn't mean they are "crying" that the fight was boring. Are you "crying" about people's complaints regarding the fight? Or are you debating what people's expectations are for fighters?

Wasn't tryna change anything. They did boo him for his lackluster performance, but I don't know how his stock went down when he just won the WBC title. Now the other guys have a reason to fight him if they wanna be champion. If anything, his stock went up one way or the other. Fair weather "fans" are gonna criticize him now, then if he puts on a great performance in his next fight, the bandwagon gonna be full again like it's happened with every fighter at some point. Real fans should be hoping he gets a shot at the other big names in and around his division. That's what boxing is all about for the fans.
