Instead, he chose to stand in front of him and box with Stevenson and allow him to control how and where the fight would be fought. Lack of experience for DLS combined with Stevenson having quicker feet. You allow a fighter that you know moves alot to move alot, that's on the other guy. He allowed Stevenson to do what he wanted to do. Can't knock Stevenson when you've seen all his fights and know that's what he does.
Should De Los Santos have started to lateral move from ring post to ring post telling Shakur to come get me in order to win?dannnnn likes this.

This is why I said Shakur isn’t near the boxer Floyd was. Call Floyd boring all you want, but at least he had that aesthetically pleasing(special effects) of transition from offense to defense or vice versa effortlessly and all in one motion without any wasted energy. Shakur has the fundamentals and tight defense, but he can’t quite balance them all together yet. He’s definitely a tier below than Floyd, Ward, or maybe even TBE(lol) Crawford in terms of boxing IQ.

A judge shouldnt see Stevenson and go, "well thats what he does." Boxing should be judged on the rules of boxing which (again) are effective punching and ring generalship. If you are avoiding getting hit effectively great but if you are not punching back effectively than whats the point?

Stevenson was the more effective puncher in a fight where neither guy was all that effective and he controlled the ring for most of the night. What else needs to be said? DLS knew what type of fighter Stevenson is and did little to nothing about it. Made no adjustments at all and Stevenson did what he wanted to do. Plain and simple.
Have fun at Jazzercise tonight.

Shakur has all the tools, he just need to know when to do certain things in the right moment, and that might come into play with more fights, etc, but he just need to have everything clicked at the same time. You can’t just stay on the defensive end and waiting and waiting with those little step backs, and not being able to know how to create openings by baiting your opponent to do exactly what you want, etc. His timing and accuracy could be a bit better too, but maybe I’m just nitpicking. Bottom line(call me an old head or hater), He ain’t no FLOYD “TB-Mother****!ng-E” MAYWEATHER.real raw likes this.
