sometime i wonder if people even understand combat sports. canelo has been competing at 168- 175 for a loooooong time. He's been in the ring against elite fighters throughout his career. Bud is, as they say, "too light in the ass."Comment

And that is why the attempt at being great is fantastic, its a fight that will define TCs legacy if he could pull it off, Crawford has everything to lose and if he believes he can do it then go for it, TC is a special kind off fighter Id like to see him try.Comment

If Pacquiao can go up and beat DLH and Canelo can go up and beat Kovalev, I'm not gonna be too surprised if Crawford can go up and beat Canelo. You get some big weight differences between heavyweights.Last time Canelo was a 5'8" WW was 13 years ago back when he was 20 years old. That reasoning is like saying that because Crawford is a 5'8" former lightweight (9 years ago), Shakur Stevenson who is also 5'8" light weight right now can compete at 147 against Crawford for his next match and have a good chance of winning.
Their heights are similar. Crawford has at least as much skill and apparently their walk around weights are similar.Comment

Pacman jumped from 135 to 147, a 12 pound difference. Still impressive no doubt and I don't mean to take anything away from Pac, but that is not anywhere close to the 21 pounds difference between 147 and 168 which is what Crawford will do if he were to jump. Pacman was also 30 years old at the time facing DLH who was 35 years old.

Canelo went from fighting 168 (against FIeldings) down to 160 (against Jacobs) then up to 175 (against Kovalev) and went back down to 168 and stayed there afterwards, so depending on how you look at it, he went up either 7 or 15 pounds. Canelo was also 29 years old at the time facing Kovalev who was 36 years old.
HW is a whole different animal when it comes to weight, because that is the one division where no one needs to worry about cutting weight, and just stay in their most comfortable weight range to be the most effective.Comment

Ok then, so let Crawford just wait for Canelo. I hope it happens so then you can complain that Crawford was too small. Same as the Khan fight.Comment

Crawford could be fighting Spence at 154 so it might not be a jump straight from 147. As you pointed out Canelo had a fight at 160 then his next at 175. Pacquiao went from 130 to 147 within a year. I know the circumstances aren't identical, they are just examples to show that you would be surprised at what some people are capable of. Who would have though a former flyweight in Pacquiao would end up beating guys the size of DLH and Margarito? A 5'8 former welterweight in Canelo would stop the light heavyweight champ? 5'9 middleweight Toney would compete at heavyweight?Pacman jumped from 135 to 147, a 12 pound difference.
