Haney defended against mandatory opposition. Crawford did not.

    This really isn’t hard.

I said multiple times that he should have agreed to fight Boots while waiting for Spence to make up his mind. Boots was the mandatory.

It was the right thing to do! Spence was dragging his feet! Crawford has already said that be had no intention of fighting Boots! So I'm glad they didn't allow the division to be held up, for two fighters, who probably won't even be fighting @ 147 again! Boots' career is in limbo! He had a contract with SHO, and now they're out of business! Wherever PBC lands, he's not a part of it, because he's not signed with PBC. Where is Cameron Dunkin taking Boots?

What circumstances dictates if a fighter is elevated to full champion vs. having a fight for a vacant belt? Is it due to being stripped vs. vacating a belt? Do the rules vary by sanctioning body?

Boots had the interim title. Interim literally means you're the champ if the current champ doesn't fight you (ducking). That's why Manny got stripped and Ugas got elevated, Loma got stripped and Haney was elevated. Tons of other examples.

If there's no interim, they vacate.

I made that comment awhile ago about someone else. I'm definitely not saying Bud is ducking Boots. Bud has been trying to break through the barriers in boxing that have held him back his whole career, just like Archie Moore did when he fought Joey Maxim when he was over 40 years old. The barrier for Bud was PBC, the other side of the street bs, and Bob Arum. PBC tried to age Bud out and Bob was terrible at promoting Bud. Now that Bud has cracked Errol upside the head, he is contractually obligated to take the rematch. Plus it will be for 8 figures. If u were making 8 figures to face someone who u already beat up easily, versus maybe 7 figures, to fight someone who u know is a nasty mofo and more complicated, what would u do? So thats not ducking, that's intelligence. As long as he's been held back, he has to get as much money as possible because his window in boxing is closing soiner than Boots' window. I'm sure they'll meet at some point, and what a fight it will be.

              Nuh uh. Don't do that.

This is the SAME situation as that other.

Bud ducked Boots. He straight refused to fight the guy. Your quote was just as accurate then as it is now - don't double-speak it like a mark. Boots isn't and wasn't with PBC - that excuse doesn't fly.

And he's not wrong. Don't change the fact that it's a duck, because you're refusing to fight your mandatory breathing down your neck even when the IBF called your card. That's a duck, plain and simple.

He's not going to do that and you know why.

HE took a very smart road getting to undisputed. But once you get there, as he just now learned, certain orgs with credibility want you to step up on the competition. WBO gave him a pass for years - IBF, and soon to be WBA/WBC ain't having that crap.

It's disgusting seeing NSB defend Crawford when it's a blatant duck of a mandatory opponent that he should have just fought to get it out of the way. OR vacate himself.

Ennis got his belt emailed to him. Cute! WW division is now empty af. Even Ortiz is at 54lber now. Everyone knew Spence v Bud rematch was gon be at 154. That's now a better division than WW with Bud, Ortiz and Spence there to go along with the current 154 fighters

Even Ennis and his dad Bozy know Bud isn't ducking him. They watched him get froze out of the big fight picture for years while PBC kept everything in-house. They understand he has to clean up 1st and make some real serious $, and they would do the same thing if Boots was froze out until he was 35 years old. They aren't saying Bud is ducking. They respect him and he respects them too. And they each know that if they fought the other, its going to be a real serious fight. If Bud can clean up a little bit $$ and Boots moves up, it can still happen. Do not count this fight out. Bud is not ducking Boots

                      Its such bull****

Tim Tszyu was installed as the WBO 154 champion in the same manor, just bestowed the title by the WBO. Atleast make the title vacant and make the number 1 and 2 challengers fight for it.

Crawford just defended the IBF title 3 months ago and now they are already giving away his belt? that makes no sense when Jermall Charlo is still the WBC middleweight champ, hasnt defended it in 29 months and is being allowed to take a non title fight against a super lightweight.

They wonder why there are so few undisputed champs because the ABCs make up the rules as they go along. The WBC outright told Bivol that he wouldnt be "allowed" to fight for Canelo's WBC title at 168 even if he makes the weight and wins..... effectively just preventing him from being allowed to ever be undisputed in 2 weight classes at the same time, they just changed their rules on a whim to protect Canelo.
