You're right that the pandemic caused a lot of chaos, but it doesn't change the fact that he was gonna be out for an undisclosed amount of time. I'm not sure if the IBF does "champion in recess", but this would've been the perfect time to introduce that rule. We're also still seeing a lot of inactivity. It seems like the best we can ask for now is for fighters to have two fights a year. Even before the accident and pandemic, Spence was fighting once or twice a year.

That's what he was waiting for. Now hopefully he'll fight some live bodies and start his era.

That's what occurred with Cordina: got stripped due to injury after beating Ogawa, IBF made Barrett/Rakhimov, and Cordina fought the winner. When a titlist is going to be inactive for an undisclosed amount of time, I think the titlist should be stripped or made "champion in recess" so other contenders can get their shot. However, this would require the ABC bodies to force contenders to fight each other to build legit #1 contenders. The pandemic is partly to blame, but we're still seeing chronic inactivity.
Boots only had one window, except that Crawford negotiated in bad faith. If he hadn’t strung Spence along, that might have worked. But everyone thought Crawford was finally going to accept his B-Side, so they stepped aside. Then Crawford walked away from negotiations, Spence said he wanted to unify. Unifications trump mandatories.

Congratz to Boots for his new Email championship of the world. Expecting a significant upgrade in opposition from now on. As for Bud ,this only confirms Spence rematch taking place at 154.

The ibf rankings are pretty slim and the next highest contenders after the Ennis were Cody Crowley and Ekow Essoman and I think Ennis would batter both of them but I'd of rather seen him fight for the vacant title against somebody atleast then just be elevated.. because he's just gonna get the email champ tag line like Haney got.

A sanctioning body, in this case the IBF following their own rules, is as common as a buffalo doing a triple jump on ice skates. Surprise, surprise.

Unfortunately, that's not how the real world works. Professional boxing is a business first, then sport second.

I still think Crawford would stop Boots in later rounds. Anyways dont see this match happening. 2024 or 2025 may be the last year we see Crawford active

Boots don’t have to wait around and see what happens with Spence and bud because as champion he can defend vs anyone wanting a title shot and that’s everyone basically, so he can get fights with the other top dogs not named Spence and bud while they handle their biz. 3. Once Spence and bud handle what they gotta handle, assuming boots is still champ by Then, he can challenge the winner/loser and they have no excuse to avoid him at that point either. With all that being said, nothing will happen until the benavidez vs boo boo fight is over because only until that is over will team canelo decide what they will do, based on that, it’ll be a dominoe effect. Right now, bud wants that canelo money, winner of benavidez vs boo boo is going to want that canelo money. So everything and everyone will wait to see who gets the call then make their moves after. I said it before and I’m saying it again, canelo hold all the cards in the game so much so that it effects the entire sport and boxers in and around his weight and weight class. I don’t know this to be facts, just seems what’s most logical at this point.
Crawford is never going to fight Boots. Boots is not a big fight. No one knows him except us. He’s going to do Spence, Charlo, and somebody else that will get him paid. Then that’s it. Hoping for Boots Crawford is a fantasy I believe.

So is this what will happen in the HW division after Fury fights Usyk? That's the play for AJ then
