Spence put Crawford in a bad spot with the IBF passing off his 12+ year mandatory and activating a pointless rematch. It's crazy the things Crawford has to go through compared to these privileged divas.
Let Ennis have the belt. Everyone's just going to avoid him for the vacated straps anyway. I'm sure that's not how he wanted to win his first title, but hey.
And enough with the ducking bs. What would Crawford have done to Karen?Comment

HOWEVER...
Unlike with Tszyu, the IBF is basically saying that Crawford is a blatant ducker:
“On August 25,the IBF sent a letter to TBC Promotions directing Terence Crawford to begin negotiations with interim Champion Jaron Ennis,” an spokesperson informed BoxingScene.com. “Negotiations were to be concluded by September 24.
“On September 22, the IBF received an email from Harrison Whitman representing Crawford indicating that the agreement for the Spence v. Crawford bout contains an immediate rematch provision which Errol Spence has exercised. As such, Terrence Crawford is unable to engage in negotiations with Jaron Ennis.”
Spence triggered the rematch clause a week later. SO why'd it'd take Crawford a MONTH to get back to the IBF? And remember, Crawford said the rematch might not happen (which meant he COULD have fought Boots).
I think he saw IBF calling his bluff and got backed into a corner with no way out except the "easy" one.
IBF deserves respeck for pushing the issue. As I said, it's Spence's fault that Boots had to wait that long, but Crawford had months to just deal with Boots and get him out of the way while waiting for Spence.
So yes - Boots is an email champion because Crawford was ducking his ass.Comment

I'm not mad at this move either. However, the IBF was lenient with Spence when it came to mandatories. Other than Ocampo, what other mandatory did he ever face? Did we ever hear about an order to enforce Ennis as mandatory, and for both parties to work out a deal?
This decision implies that Spence/Crawford may be happening at 154, and maybe Ennis has recently gained some powerful friends.
Additionally, the IBF should also be stripping Jermell soon.
Spence tried to book with Crawford, Crawford walked away from negotiations to rob BLK Prime and fight a mandatory.
The letter orgs mostly leave you alone as long as you
- are unifying belts
- are fighting mandatories
Spence was busy unifying titles, bro. Unifications trump mandatories.
Crawford couldn't unify any further, he HAD to fight a mandatory, regardless of the Spence rematch. The same thing happened with Floyd, they started threatening him after he beat Manny, so he stopped paying the bill and got stripped.Comment

Errol is just holding up Boots' glory by activating that rematch. Because he knows damned well he cannot beat Bud. Everytime Errol blinked his eyes, Bud had a counter for it. When somebody beats u that thoroughly, that's a sign to just leave that man alone and go on about your business. But fighting Bud is the business, and Errol wants that forever money, and I can't blame him for that, so go get paid. I love Errol, but how can he get to Bud's body without reaching or putting his head down like he does? Everytime he misses a punch, he's going to pay a heavy price. Errol vs. Bud is kinda like Iran Barkley vs. James Toney. Or maybe Hopkins vs.Trinidad. Errol is strong, tough, and has a huge heart, but his feet are a bit too heavy, his defense is too open, and he doesn't think fast enough to mess with Bud. As great as Errol is, Bud's ring IQ is higher and too versatile. He can fight Errol an entirely different way next time, if he wanted to, and he probably will.
Cong**** to Boots. I still have hope that some day we'll see Boots vs.Bud.Last edited by archiemoore1; 11-09-2023, 09:45 PM.Comment
