I remember when I first began posting in earnest on here, one otherwise-astute Calzaghe poster (who will remain nameless) declared Joe to be in the top 30 of all-time. Yesterday, another Calzaghe fan declared Joe could only be beat by KO and that no fighter under 200lbs could accomplish that feat. What will tomorrow bring?
I agree with you IMDAZED I think Calzaghe is near impossible to decision and it would require a KO to beat him. But we all know Calzaghe had a very tight defense not as good as a Whitaker or Floyd but one of the best defenses over the last 20 years.

it is pretty sad that even today the americans get over-rated, not taking anything away from hopkins and especially jones jr as they were great fighters.

the simple fact is calzaghe is a white boy from Europe and isn't the norm so people hate anything that goes against the norm.
I can't rate someone who calls himself the "legend killer".

That isn't a true fighter - that's someone looking for an easy way to become a great.

boxers talk trash and don't really mean it.

i thought as a hopkins fan boy you would understand this.

He fougth people his size so knock it off with the ******ity.

His MW career wasn't just based on Tito and Oscar. If you actually followed his career you would know this.

excuses excuses...he was green when he lost to jones...he was past his prime when he lost to calzaghe and taylor 2x...yet he is #4 p4p and considered the greatest thing since sliced bread for beating pavlik....past his prime or p4p? which ****ing one is it?

yeah he fought people his size, he just lost to all of 'em

trust me...my knowledge of nardo's career goes back way further than when he was beating up on big name welters...hell if it wasn't for the middleweight tournament, he'd be still fighting to a capacity of 12 people at the blue horizon against the likes of bo james...

Why do you trash someone that's shot? don't make sense to me

don't get me wrong - i was a big fan of calzaghe but that showboating / trash talk against a living great like jones just turned me the wrong way.

they weren't entirely shot to be honest.

as for the showboating it was clear that he wasn't going to knock roy out so started doing that. not that i approve of it. he should've carried on and got a tko.

I do not see Joe being any cakewalk for a prime Bhop, or vise versa.

When you look at the big picture, Joe had the style to give anyone fits. I personally think he would have beaten a prime Bhop, but lose to a prime Roy.

He could have done more with his career, but that is no reason to sell him short. Just watch his fights and watch what he did in them.
