    WTF?

I must have read that wrong. Are you saying Roy was slower than Joe or slower than his {Roy's} 168+ self???

You do realize Hopkins was a MW that moved up to 175 not that long ago while Joe was a SMW that moved up to 175?

lol...hopkins is 0 and 4 against fighters his size or bigger that are equally talented...joe spanks him...
      How so?

Taylor was when Hopkins was Past his Prime. Calzaghe was when he was Past his Prime. THe only one to beat him in his prime was Roy Jones Jr.

He fougth people his size so knock it off with the ******ity.

His MW career wasn't just based on Tito and Oscar. If you actually followed his career you would know this.

        1. No, he's saying Roy would have trouble with Calzaghe's speed. Joe would have no issues with 168 Roy, of course.

        2. That's irrelevant. Hopkins sucks and fights only featherweights. Calzaghe fights real men like Evans Ashira.

Ashira is a tough opponent without question and easily 100% better than Ricky Frasier the NY cop RJJ fought. Calzaghe also beat the highly skilled Bika who is arguably one of the best fighters in the 160-175 lbs range that never won a world title.

Calzaghe fans are great, just great.

I remember when I first began posting in earnest on here, one otherwise-astute Calzaghe poster (who will remain nameless) declared Joe to be in the top 30 of all-time. Yesterday, another Calzaghe fan declared Joe could only be beat by KO and that no fighter under 200lbs could accomplish that feat. What will tomorrow bring?

              Haha ! I know it's crazy.

Hopkins / Jones in their primes, would have destroyed Calzaghe.

What did Joe have to offer in his prime? Power

Hopkins has not been knocked out or barely hurt -

... and you can't compare the power of Calzaghe had to Tarver or Johnson

Jones had better footwork and speed in his prime whilst Hopkins stamina.

It would have been game over and asta la vista Calzaghe back in the day.

Yes, because Hopkins hits extremely hard and joe has a glass chin... /sarcasm

We're about 18 months in.. and the bashing resulting from their April '08 encounter still rolls on. This has gone on every single day. I beg to differ that there shouldn't have been an immediate rematch.

Well, to Hopkins credit he at least had GBP attempt to get a deal on a rematch with Joe done before he started toying with the idea of a fight with Adamek or the Johnson/Dawson winner.

they would not have destroyed Calzaghe, sorry to break it to you.

it is pretty sad that even today the americans get over-rated, not taking anything away from hopkins and especially jones jr as they were great fighters.

the simple fact is calzaghe is a white boy from Europe and isn't the norm so people hate anything that goes against the norm.
