After reviewing both Dawson fights especially the 2nd its clear the Calzaghe and Dawson types that throw and have good work rate will always trouble Hop. He has a great legacy but he lucked out that RJJ and Calzaghe decided not to fight at mw for their whole careers. If they did Hop would be seen as a Benny Briscoe good but never good enough fighter.

its funny how hopkins came up from 160, joe from 168 yet calzaghe is the one who fougth at a unnatural weight.
in all honesty they were both big enough to carry the weight and it gave neither fighter an advantage, calzaghe had been struggling to make 168 for years. im quite sure he wouldve moved up regardless if hopkins was his next oponent or not.
hopkins beat him at 40+ with half the arsenal he had in his prime, at his best he wouldve killed calzaghe.

At 160 if the arguably slower Roy managed to get in and out against Hop without taking damage then JC would've completely schooled him worse than he did in their 175 fight when Joe was blown up and old.
