I love the kind of events that PBC is putting together of late but why is the pool of major broadcasters dramatically shrinking?

I think a lot of that doesn’t even have anything to do with boxing. There is a big push to move everything to streaming that goes along with the big push to have an “Internet of things.” With smart power meters, smart refrigerators, smart home security cameras etc.

The cynical among us might suggest that they want everyone and everything connected and dependent on it…because it is then easier to hack and/or exert control.

Was Prescott a world champ at the time? Was Crawduck a champ at the time? Plenty of guys have taken fights on short notice, but noone is doing what Volkanovski is doing.

He may never had a catchweight fight and all the other things you said, but he did fight Spence 5 years too late when Spence was a slurring, shot, weight drained, walking zombie with a detached retina.

Volkanovski could be doing something exceptional within his sport. I don’t know who he is. I don’t follow his sport. If he is a remarkable talent I wish him the best of luck. To the point, in boxing plenty of OPPONENTS take fights on short notice, at new weight classes, after brutal stoppages. The “A” side doesn’t. The house fighter doesn’t make any concessions, receives all the advantages. So when Crawford says fighters need a seat at the table does he mean all fighters? I hope so. The sport will have to radically change. The bulk of fighters can’t just exist as fodder for the names. Like other posters have said there needs to be revenue sharing, pensions, disability funds, flatter pay structure. The superstars better expect to see smaller purses. If we are inviting everyone to the table.

And c’mon. If Spence was a cripple why weren’t the betting odds stratified? If we go down rabbit holes, Kell Brook was clearly weight drained vs Spence. Fading as the fight went on, gasping for air on his bench stool, stomach ballooning with every deep breath while Errol was cool as a cucumber in his corner. Brook shouldn’t have let himself go between fights but his only losses were to Golovkin, Spence, and Bud. Wish I could say the only times I came up short were to a trio like that! On July 29th Spence would have flattened any welter not named Crawford. They covered all of this at the kickoff presser. Crawford’ s version of reality came true. Pretty much verbatim.

Just sounds crazy to me that after all what is happening, tv networks getting out of boxing, fans still talk about ridiculous irrelevant things. Helloooo! It's not a profitable business to be in for these broadcasters.

For what..... Boots hasn't done **** in the sport other than amazing a bunch of mfers who just started watching this sport. Tell Boots to fight someone who actually has a legit chance at winning a title at 147 and stop jumping on every former 140lb'er that moves up into the division.

Promoters already have enough money to walk away, fighters don't. Listen clearly this bothers you but facts are facts without fan support a fighter will not make good money.

dont know how to word this without sounding as if i am slating crawford but really he is part of the problem that boxing is losing popularity... tremendous fighter but he is 35and has fought i would say one fighter who is above B level and signed with a promoter who he knew wouldnt be able to deliver big,marketable fights... some of the opponents he has fought in recent years have been really, really bad, remember that 'mean machine' guy he found off a building site in Lithuania and then benavidez who was literally a shot fighter as he has been shot in the knee

Were any credible PPV #s for Spence-Crawford released? I watched it a large, popular sportsbar and I was amazed that the vast majority of people were way more interested in the UFC undercard compared to the boxing Superfight. It was very disappointing for me to see this. There is clearly a problem.

Can it really be classified as a "superfight" if one guy couldn't "sell out a family dinner"?

That's why Floyd's doing what he's doing. Why fight any of the active crop when Canelo is arguably the only one that draws real money and he already washed him? That's why Tank fights who he fights - he fights the guys that have a strong following because he knows it's about who draws money at the end of the day.

Crawford couldn't even sell huge across from Shawn Porter. That's telling. The timing of the fight was just way after the sell date. It should arguably have happened INSTEAD of Crawford re-signing with Arum because there was demand for it at that time.

For the same reason that Johnny Manziel and Antonio Brown are not on the Board of Directors for the NFL. Its not their area of expertise. Oscar is right. They should hire competent managers and attorneys to look out for their interests.

Just when I thought I read the dumbest response in this conversation, I come across yet another ***el....... Johnny Manziel & Antonio Brown are/were apart of a FRANCHISE that had a GM/Owner/Ceo. And that FRANCHISE belongs to the NFL.....National Football LEAGUE.....

Boxers are the franchise. They aren't apart of any league, association, etc.... They are their own businesses who perform mergers with other business (fighters) to put on a show for fans.... That's what negotiations are.

Since your simple a$$ can't tell the difference between the 2, I'll use your same flawed logic/comparison/example.

You are stating that Rodger Giddel (NFL Head Honcho) would make decisions about the league without Jerry Jones (Dallas Cowboys), Howie Roseman (Philadelphia Eagles), Mikey Loomis (New Orleans Saints), or any other VP being at the table.... Or maybe Adam Silver (NBA Commissioner) will make decisions about the NBA without Jeanie Buss (LA Lakers), Peter J. Holt (SA Spurs), Mark Cuban (Dallas Mavs), or any other owner not being at the table.

These fighters aren't ****** and they shouldn't be treated as such. THERE LIVES AND HEALTH are put at risk for the sake of entertainment and your simple a$$ suggest they shouldn't have a say in how they conduct their business.

And your "go-to" example was Johnny Manziel & Antonio Brown......2 mfers who couldn't even respect themselves or their teammates & frachises while they were apart of an organization..... What TF does that have to do with Terence Crawford or Saul Alvarez or Demtrius Andrade, etc.... being apart of a discussion that effects their careers. Mfers who have been as professional as possible throughout their career.
