I agree with Terrance Crawford this time. It's these greedy ass so called promoters, who have f'd up boxing! They're not making the fights that the people wants to see made! The fighters have their part in this as well! All of this round about bs needs to stop! You've already caused to major sponsors to quit fng with boxing now ( HBO and SHOWTIME)! Now! You're about to ruin boxing even more! All of you needs to understand that not only is boxing a business, but it's still a sport and competition and above all, it's entertainment for the consumers, who work and support it! People pay their money to see what they want to view! It's not the promoters they pay to see! It's the fighters!

I love boxing and it frustrates me to see its demise. We have had HBO and now Showtime bail. DAZN initially said they didn't need the PPV model but now they have crossed over to it. The business model and underlying economics must simply not work. As I said, the UFC undercard that showed on the same evening of Spence-Crawford (a so-called Superfight) got more attention from the general public yet the UFC fighters made a tiny fraction of what Spence and Crawford did. Despite some so called big PPV events this year, Showtime is exiting the business. I love the kind of events that PBC is putting together of late but why is the pool of major broadcasters dramatically shrinking? The Benavides-Andrade scrap is another fine example of an excellent match up that PBC has made and I will watch it. Something needs to change. Maybe it is a question of making big fights happen sooner and not over-marintaring but it may simply be that boxing content doesn't have the current value that justifies some of the purses being paid on a risk/return basis.

I wish Terence Crawford had seen the light a long time ago!!!

Crawford: If I Didn't Call [Spence], We Wasn't In Contact With One Another, Fight Wouldn’t Have Happened
          June 16, 2023

All the trash talk this week notwithstanding, Crawford and Spence seem to like each other. There undoubtedly is real respect between them and they realized that they need each other more than they might’ve been willing to admit last year.

Assuming the loser wants to redeem himself immediately, there is a rematch clause in their contracts that Crawford or Spence will need to activate within 30 days of their fight. If the loser exercises that contractual right, Spence and Crawford would fight a second time before the end of 2023.

There were many more details in his contract that Crawford and his team analyzed and adjusted before he agreed to sign it and they announced that they’ll fight for Crawford’s championship and Spence’s three titles.

I learned a lot in these last months of, you know, doing and handling my own career and talking with Al Haymon and talking with my handlers, my lawyers and just learning the game,” Crawford said. “It’s so much that goes into making a mega-fight like this that nobody understands. They think that two fighters just agree and bam, here you have it. But there’s a lotta missed detail that goes into making a mega-fight that a lotta people don’t know and don’t understand. And then they fault the fighters for not taking the fight because things wasn’t right in the contract.”

By Keith Idec – Terence Crawford agreed with Errol Spence Jr. on one thing during their two-city press tour this week. If the undefeated welterweight champions

Bud, you waited just a little bit too long, but you're headed in the right direction!

Crawduck was the reason the Spence fight didn't happen 5 years ago, Crawduck is the reason he stayed with Top Rank and the reason no significant fights ever happened. Divas like him, protecting that "0" are the reason Showtime boxing is closing up shop. And now he thinks he can tell Oscar how to run the business?

Doesn't matter what he says, he's on the wrong side of 30 and only wants to cash out, he never took any risks, fooled people with the "eyeball test" and is looking for that retirement lotto ticket.

            edit.

Add to that, Divas like Crawduck are the reason Showtime and HBO tanked, look at the UFC card this weekend, you think a diva like Crawduck would step in on 2 weeks notice and fight the champ at a higher weight class like Volkanovski is doing? Same thing with Usman jumping in at a weeks notice and fighting the champ in what could've easily been a main event fight. I love boxing, but damn, UFC is kicking their asses with the cards and fighters attitudes.

Over-marination has been a problem for a long time, but the increasing price and reliance on PPVs may be an even bigger issue. Sometimes, it feels like the fans that decide to financially support boxing are being squeezed of every penny they have. It has never been easier to pirate a boxing event, so to ask fans to pay $80+ is absolutely foolish. I'm not even sure what makes a PPV attraction or a PPV event anymore, because there is no quality control. Haney/Prograis and Benavidez/Andrade are good match-ups, but people will hesitate to spend money to watch it. The market is shrinking partially because boxing is being increasingly locked behind a PPV or subscription paywall. I pay for DAZN, but the price increase + introduction of PPVs is making me wonder if I should renew when it's time to.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Promoters can't be the only ones at the negotiation table, especially since they have little skin in the game. Time and time again we see boxers hosed by greedy promoters.

Crawford is the problem with boxing. He doesn’t understand that to do what he’s saying u need to also promote your own fights. It’s possible to do but u can’t be the fighter and promoter one will suffer. Crawford wants all the money but doesn’t want to pay broadcasters and venues and what not he thinks boxers should get 95% of the profits which isn’t really feasible
It went nowhere?.... You might want to do you research buddy.

Y'all sound ignorant..... No dates.....mfer he was legally bound to a rematch that allegedly has recently been voided.

Clowns go out their way to belittle Crawford. What he is saying is EXACTLY right. Why shouldn't the fighters be invited to the table?... THEY are the ones taking the biggest risk. The healthy and life is on the line for the entertainment of a bunch of ignorant mfers who feel they should stfu and let Arum, Haymon, Oscar, Eddie, Don King, etc.....maximize their pockets.

One moment y'all fault Crawford for allowing Bob Arum to "promote" him, but then blame Crawford for PPV numbers and his name not being as popular as a Ryan Garcia or Tank Davis...... Now he saying the fighters should be more active in the structure of the sport they participate in, and you telling him to fall back..... TF is up with y'all.
