  • Let me wish you good luck in all your bets, I am going for Cotto too and looking to bet my last point with people out there. I have studied Pacquiao from months since he became the next adversary for Miguel Cotto and cannot see how Pacquiao can beat Cotto. I will be in Las Vegas to see the fight; also I am planning to bet $500 in favor of Cotto. In my job already I have $250 against few coworkers. Good luck to you. Take care.

Co-sign. The guy just fought at 160 and beat Winky Wright and now Pavlik... if he beats Pavlik he's no better than Mayweather calling out Marquez. This guy may be able to make 147 but its obvious he's too big for the division if he's beating MW's. I mean seriously, a MW calling out WW's and he wants respect? Join the super six or fight the winner of Dawson-Johnson, THEN he'll get my respect.

      • If P-Will gets past Pavlik I would give him a good chance against B-Hop. B-Hop isn't going to lose to a guy who tries to box him but he is old so superior work rate is something he has trouble with. Pavlik, Winky, and Tarver tried to box and failed while Calzage, and Taylor beat him with sheer athleticism. P-Will may have a better shot than Dawson just due to style

        • I think Paul Williams should just stop looking for welter weights and start focusing on middle weight because he is tallker than Kelly Pavlik.

          • I don't see a problem with him fighting at any weight class, as long as he can make the limit it's fair. Jumping through the weights up and down isn't good for the body so I think it'll catch up with him eventually at WW. As his body matures it'll be about him training for the scale not training for the fight, which usually leads to an L.

I hope he goes back down to JMW after Pavlik, win lose or draw. Only Martinez there can threaten him imo, and I'd still pick him to win a UD. If he could make WW comfortably gr8, but by now I don't see that **** happenin. Even if he did, nobody there would fight him except Clottey, who's movin up himself.
This right here is the best post in this thread about Paul Williams I believe. These people that are trying to force Williams up to higher weight divisions are on some bull****. If he beats Pavlik, the only way that he is going to get a lucrative fight against someone is if one of these bitches move up to 160, and that aint gonna happen. I don't want to see Williams take the same path of bums like Pavlik has. Paul's best move is to at least move down to 154 after this fight if he can't lure anybody from Welter or Junior Middle to fight him at 160. Hell, I think Cotto could beat Felix Sturm. Are you Cotto fans happy? Someone needs to get the balls to fight this cat. Cotto, Floyd, Shane, all of them.

And then there are these people that use Paul Williams as an equivalent of Johnnie Cochran evidence to defend Floyd from ducking the rest of the Welterweight division, and that's bull**** too.

How would beating the lineal world Middleweight champion not satisify your criteria: "challenge some specific boxer in a specific weight and become a world champion in that category"? If he beats Pavlik, he'd be the world Middleweight champion.

And if he believes (which he does) that he is still a Welterweight who is capable of being competitive at Welterweight, Jnr Middleweight and Middleweight, why shouldn't he try to get fights with the best fighters at all three weights? Just because it hasn't been done since Armstrong's time is no reason why he shouldn't try to do it, if he believes he can.

If he can make 147 that means he's a Welterweight. If he's a Welterweight who can beat Middleweights, that just means he's a great Welterweight. And other than Pavlik and Sturm there are no challenges for him at Middleweight currently. And I believe that Floyd-Williams at 147 would be a pick 'em fight, not a foregone conclusion at all. Martinez, Dzindziruk and even Mosley would also be competitive fights.

                    • And Williams didn't turn down Martinez, Clottey, or Dzinziruk. He had those guys as choices to fall back on if he didn't fight Pavlik. People need to get with the program.
