  • I think he needs to stay in his original division or move up if he can clearly no welters want to fight him. Who starts at 158 and then goes down to 147 after several pro fights?

He didn't want the fight then because he wanted to move up in weight and to challenge DLH. He had been finding it increasingly difficult to make Lightweight for a considerable time and was clearly weight drained in his last fight at the weight.

A much more important question is why Mayweather fought B-level Lightweights after the Castillo rematch, instead of fighting Dorin and Spadafora. Floyd has no excuse whatsoever for that.

The De La Hoya fight was already provisionally scheduled for the following May, and De La Hoya didn't want Mosley to fight Mayweather, because anything can happen in the ring, and Mosley was far more of a threat to Mayweather than Boldomir was.

So on what basis are you claiming that Williams is too big? His walk-around weight is lower than most of the other top Welterweights. He says he can still easily make 147 at the weigh in without being weight drained. If it's not on the basis of his height that you're objecting, then on what basis is it?

Clottey has called him out repeatedly.

Fair enough hurt might be a little strong but if Pavlik lands the combination that Margarito did with about 10sec left in RD 10 Williams will more certainly be seriously "bothered" against pavlik and to a lesser extent if he has a round like RD11 in that fight. that's all I meant Williams clearly won 8 or 9 rounds in that fight but Pavlik is better than Margarito even with the plaster pavlik punches harder and throws more crisp punches.

            • P-Will is the truth. I believe it was Spray Resistant that said if Williams-Pavlik is a competitive fight, then Mosley-Pavlik and Cotto-Pavlik are mismatches. They would be mismatches because those guys aren't as good as Williams even though I think Mosley would be more competitive with Paul than Cotto would. I'd also only make Pavlik a slight favorite over Mosley, because Mosley is strong and Pavlik can be outboxed.

              • Cosign: Williams best P4P

Williams is the best P4P figher in boxing. He calls out everyone and everyone who claims to be a champ is afraid to call him out and fight him. Thats a champion. After he dusts off Pavlik he should be rated TOP P4P because there will be no justification for not rating him the top dog.
