Hopkins doesn't need a tune up this easy give him a break, he dominated the MW #1 so he's hardly testing himself with this guy.

Heck I'd have him decent over dog over Cloud. Or nab a belt of Zsolt Erdei or a lesser known CW than Adamek, or even Sturm.

All of these a reasonably easy wins for Hopkins. And that's just a few names off the top of my head..

Ideal would be a belt at LHW or CW imo, makes the Roy match up more interesting and meaningful.

Kris, this fight is intended to be a workout. It is what it is. He's not going to fight anybody with a betting chance at upsetting the next big fight he has planned. This fight is just to shake off a year's rust and get those joints moving again. He's not gonna box Cloud or waste his time in impossible negotiations for Erdei's crap-strap. Get real. You give him a break. This is who is available and who he can get in the ring in the appropriate opponent caliber range for a fight like this. And Ornelas gets to share a ring with an ATG.


And the fight will not be made more meaningful by a paper title belt. The names Hopkins and Jones Jr., though faded, are more meaningful. Their histories and relationship to each other give the fight all the occasion it needs.

Yea I feel ya. Most everyone wants Hop and Roy to fight, well in order for that to happen this a fight that will happen first. Its an easy win just to get some ring time. That's all. Its not a challenge, its not supposed to do anything but put Hop in the ring, look good in his home crowd and promote his future fight with Jones if Jones wins his fight.

I'm game for it, if it means that they (Hop/Jones) fight each other. No big deal as long as its free and not PPV....

i heard there's a clause in the contract that hopkins can weigh 175 while ornelas can't weigh in no higher than 165....
