  • It's a tune up guys. James toney, who's 4 years younger than bhop, who hadn't fought in like a year (just like bhop) just fought a guy named Matthew Greer (12-6 record). Did everyone cry? No, because everyone knew it was a tune up fight, a fight to get back in the ring, win, and advance to bigger things.

Marco Antonio Barrera fought Freudis Rojas (1-7-1 record) and Sammy Ventura (25-19 record) before fighting Amir Khan. Granted he was coming off a loss to Pacquiao, but nonetheless he wanted a couple tune up fights before taking on a bigger opponent.

List goes on and on and on and on. Everyone has a tune up fight at some point. A tune up serves many purposes, but obviously for hopkins he just wants to be active and shake the ring rust, while not taking any risks jeopardizing his fight with jones (which face it, will provide both fighters with a lot of money).

Hopkins last opponents: Pavlik, Calzaghe, Winky, Tarver, Taylor. If anyone deserves a tune up, it's bhop.

    • He is aggressive enough for it to be an entertaining beating and ko win for Bernard. I think I may go to this fight if it is in philly, just an hour drive for me. I wonder how much tickets are?

      • I'm happy as **** he is doing this in philly. I don't care if it's a tuneup or not. It'd be great if he did it at the blue horizon which would be way to small for a fight for him now. But it'd be great. I'll be going. Hopefully they can showcase some other philly talent on the card.

I knew you were going to get on here and tear Hopkins a new one. LOl. Yeah no kidding. I'm a fan of B-Hop and I can't even defend him for this bull**** fight. I'm not going to lie though, Danny Green isn't all that good either.

I'll tell you what too. If he retires after he beats Roy Jones, I'll question his resume if he doesn't fight another prime guy that is his size. He held his own against Zag and JT, but he needs a convincing win over a peak guy who is a natural 175 lber. Real talk. And I don't know why everybody wants to see this rematch that is fifteen years too late. Hopkins will never get his detractors off his back unless he beats a guy like Dawson or Cloud. Chad may lose to Glen Johnson in the rematch though.

                • Even though I'm not a Hopkins fan, the man does deserve the right and respect to fight whomever he wants to at this point of his career. It's not like he's holding up an alphabet belt from a young contender and as long as Hopkins is competitive with the best fighters in the world I see NO reason for him to retire, not when he still has the fire to do what it takes to stay in championship shape and not only compete but beat the cream of the crop he can fight until he's no longer hungry. He's earned that right IMHO...

I could understand on his fight with Jones. They kept asking Hopkins and Jones about it. Some fans want it. I personally don't mind seeing it.

All I want is to see him fight really good guys his weight division. That's all. But he keeps pulling **** like this over and over and over. Calzaghe even had to climb up one division bro.
