Because its an algorithm done by points, its not decided with common sense

Gassiev has a lot of boxrec points from his cruiserweight days, so a win over him gives you a lot of points on the algorithm, hence Wallin going up to 4th.

Boxrec is great for records. The rankings are meaningless. It has Eubank and Smith as 1 and 2 at middleweight because they beat each other and gained points doing so. Neither have even held a 160 title, Smith didn't fight there until 2 fights ago and Eubank was fighting at 168 until 2 fights ago.

Missed the fight, labored thru the undercard just for the stream to stop before the main event.

Thought that Wallin would outbox him but probably gas and get caught late by Gassiev. Sounds like Wallin did outbox, did gas but Murat never made him pay for it. Surprised to see Wallin was the one to hurt Gassiev, looked like a shot right hook during an exchange.

Curious to see who Wallin fights next. Would have liked to see him fight Whyte a few years back.

I expected a similar scenario maybe a near shutout and then the hammer would drop but once Wallin made it through about 10 and I was pretty much certain he had it in the bag. I think he was rocked twice in the fight in the 6th and the end of the 12th but Gassiev never hit when Wallin was stumbling slightly in the 6th and the bell rang in the 12th.

boxrec rankings are funny most of the time, I think Whyte was still top 5 or something just last week, Dubois is still #6. WTF has Dubois been doing since losing to Joyce? He weaseled his way into a mandatory title shot against Usyk and got enough points to stay high in Boxrec, yet most of his Ws are against 1 star boxers lol

That's Wild Gassiev isn't good enough to propel him to that point and surely cutting fury and losing 8-9 rounds to him like 50 years ago can't be the justification for it but I guess this era is mediocre soooo maybe that is enough of a justification....

Truly bizarre but it is algorithm based. Gassiev cruiser record makes him a very solid win in BoxRec eyes.
