Interesting when they asked Warren whats next for Zhang that he said probably mandatory against WBO champ mid next year. Does that mean Frank is pushing him away from Fury and into Usyk....or does he expect there to be a unified champ by then?

The way Zhang anticipated Joyce trying to shell from his left perfectly set up the chance to nail him with the right. Very methodical boxing from The Emperor! A 40 year old problem.

Yes human punch catcher is no longer a viable career for him. I have seen him take vicious shots and walk through them that looked on the surface harder than the ones Zhang threw. The human window pane theory worked again.

Where Joyce goes from here is anyone's guess. The logical guess would be B side guy in high level British domestic fights but at the world level any logical window for a world title fight is probably shut after this disaster.

Joyce is in a spot no top fighter ever wants to be in. Getting stopped twice and losing mandatory status has left Joyce in no man's land. I'm genuinely not sure what the next move is. I did think he'd get stopped again, but this was catastrophic.

Today's boxing lesson from Emperor Zhang... what to do if your opponent is circling to your lead hand.

Circling to the lead hand needs to happen either out of range, or close enough that you are basically on the elbow of the lead side so they can't hit you with any offense. Just stepping in a circle leaves you open to a lead hook.

Zhang saw this from the first seconds of the fight. You can see him start moving his lead hand in a circle in a long guard, since you can set up that lead hook with a jab feint, then follow with the hook. Southpaws will do that circle counterclockwise, to draw the lead hand of the opponent out and down, then come around over the top with the hook. He tried for it a couple times in the second round, and kept Joyce thinking about the left.

Then he sets it up by launching the 2-3. 2 draws the hands of Joyce forward and loads up the right hook, and since Joyce was circling to the left, he walks right into the right hook, and down he goes. Textbook. A potentially better entry for Joyce would have been jab, slip, and switch step in tight, to deliver uppercuts under the armpit and the cross down the middle as they turn. Either way, Zhang has his number all day long.

Joyce might even look worse in the ring than Wilder. Looked like he has never boxed, just awful at everything. He should retire. Will be hard for Zhang to get the top fights now imo they all duck him other than Wilder.
