"If you force the mandatory just for the sake of it, you are doing a disservice to the sport"... That's shockingly bad coming from the mouth of a head of sanctioning body. At this point Sulaiman is just a gangster and money launderer, it's so blatant.

The funny part is that posters on here take things he says as gospel truth so that they can hate on a guy and push a narrative.

Like the narrative that Loma ducked Haney. They say Loma asked for franchise and ducked mandatory Haney to fight the soft touch that was then-undefeated IBF champion Teofimo Lopez. The only evidence? Because Sulaiman said so. Loma said flat out he heard nothing about it, and just wanted to fight the IBF champ for undisputed. That's been his goal for years.

But the WBC tried to push franchise on all the top fighters at the time. Canelo, Estrada, Loma, and were talking about giving one to Deontay Wilder at the time. They had hoped to give it to other top fighters but those plans got screwed when Crawford declined it. Who stood to benefit? The WBC, being able to collect sanctioning fees from three "champions", after being jealous of the WBA doing essentially the same thing with interim, World, and Super champions. But people still believe Sulaiman whenever it allows them to push a narrative.

At least the WBO and IBF follow their own rules. The WBC is probably the worst of the lot now.

I doubt it the father used to rule in favor for anything King wanted with the rankings. His son has just changed with times and now is trying to make money off of celebrity boxing type matches.

He created a bs belt for Fury vs Paul and now is doing the same thing for Fury vs Ngannou.
