Those who claim the shot was legal don't understand the rule. It's a foul if you hit below the belt. The belt being an imaginary line from the top of the hips to the navel. This is independent of where the trunks are, though the trunk shouldn't go above this, in pro boxing they usually allow but the referee marks where it is allowed and where not prior to the fight.
Half the glove lands under the belt with the upper part of the glove landing on the belt. The whole glove lands under the navel/top of the hips. Clear low blow.

To clarify: The shot is not on the balls but that doesn't make it a legal blow.

There are rules and guidelines for a reason. "Beltline" is the navel. "Below the beltline" is below the navel. There are a million internet pics already of the punch bouncing off of Usyk's cup. DDD hit him "below the belt" and then quit a few rounds later. Y'all salty af.

Been watching ring instructions closely. In every fight tonight, the ref put his hand ON TOP OF THE trunks that were BELOW THE NAVEL and said "this is good" except for one guy who had the trunks ABOVE the navel and the ref specifically said "you can work here (on the beltline") because the trunks are high.

Dubois's glove landed on the belt and slightly below it and thus landed a low blow BY DEFINITION. PERIOD.

I can feel some sympathy for DDD because, in truth, a lot of referees would've allowed that. Fact remains, in boxing laws 'below the belt' means below the navel & it was. It should also be said that if the ref had continued counting towards 10 I'm 99% sure Usyk would've got up, so the idea that DDD was robbed of a 'KO' is silly.

Usyk was given 3.45min rest period for the shot, he clearly showed that shot took the wind out of him, at one point it looked like he wasnt gonna continue. So he may very well have gotten up within 10 if he was given the count but he was clearly suffering from the shot and we will never know what could have happened as it took him significantly longer then 10 seconds to get going again, and lastly it was like almost every bodyshot after that D landed on Usyk, he was trying to complain to ref about them being low..

Amir Khan vs Zab Judah, khan lands a bodyshot right on the belt line, judah goes down for the count and complains it was a low below. No one after reviewing the footage gave Judahs claims any weight due to it being on the belt. Zabs appeal to the commission also fell on deaf ears.

These people don't put much thought into what they say, they are just used to people wearing their trunks way above their belly button and refs allowing the belt line. With that said, if you watch Kovalev vs Ward 2, the ref points to the same spot and says you can work there, which Ward did and won with. Tony Weeks didn't apply the rule as it's written.

Here's a pic of the end, where you can clearly see Usyk's navel over the belt line.

Its a LOW BLOW, not a BALLS BLOW. So it's still illegal.
