I don’t see the controversy. Look at the picture. It’s low.

I get that we all love Usyk so much, and we all think he can beat Tyson Fury.
But there is no way in hell or heaven or any corner of this Earth that this was a low blow. There was literally nothing low about that punch. Absolutely nothing. The fact that we all know Usyk is better the Dubois, more skilled in practically every way possible...we can all agree that the BETTER man won tonight. That is not the debate.
But what I'm not going to do is act like that punch Dubois landed on Usyk that had him out for a few minutes, was somehow "low" because it literally wasn't. The better man won tonight, but not the RIGHT man. Everyone can lie to themselves and claim it was a lowblow, but anyone who is honest with themselves will admit that was a CLEAN perfect body shot.Comment

With those trunks Usyk was wearing, the beltline would be level with the top of the waistband, and the punch landed 3 or 4 inches below that. So ...Originally posted by True ThatDubois quit yes, he has no heart, etc…..but that punch in the 5th round was on the belt line, that was not below the belt line, not a low blow.Comment

A boxer's trunk may move up and down during a fight. The level of the waistband is not an accurate way to determine whether a punch on the belt line is a low blow or not.Warren is talking garbage. You can't say a punch is legal just because it lands on the waistband of the trunks. What matters is where the waistband is situated on the fighter's body. At times, you could see Usyk's navel visible above the top of his waistband, and a punch that lands below the navel is a low blow. It was a good call by the ref.
A punch on the belt line is a subjective ruling subject to error.

If you look at the middle of the glove, it is just fine. The problem is that gloves are very big and the periphery can do damage as well. That is part of the reason why the belt line is bigger than how we wear our pants. That hurts really bad, can change a fight, and does not seem to have changed the trajectory of the match. Quit crying - it is a non factorComment

Yes, that's what I said. What matters is where the waistband is situated on the fighters body. Warren said that the punch landing on Usyk's waistband proves it was a legit body punch, which is garbage.

Honestly thought the low blow was borderline, but if the ref didn’t react as if it was low, Usyk would have got up right away. He only stayed down because he knew he had the time. Sh’t happens all the time. Hardly changed the outcome. Move it along.Comment
