You know, it's interesting. In August, when Arum stated that the tickets were flying out the door and the fight was essentially sold out - without any verifiable data - that statement was absorbed and not questioned. Celebrated, even.

Now, in the face of actual data and information that sales velocity is slow, the information is met by emotional outbursts and wounded egos.

We are mostly men on this board. Let's try to deal with issues the way men should. Analytically, and with equanimity.

We won't have a clear sense of the magnitude until after the fight.
i'm not the one who made a thread title with "NOT SELLING WELL" in caps.

it's a pointless thread, moreso once the fight does well and you'll notice there was no point in posting or discussing this.

I didn't realize that CAPS was somehow soap opera-esque.

If the thread is so pointless, why are you posting here repeatedly? That doesn't speak well of your judgment.
        Right?

Well, it's true. Contrary to earlier pronouncements that the fight was "sold out"....

          a) The MGM Grand, the host hotel, has not sold out of rooms. Hotel reservations for that weekend in Vegas, on the whole, has not ****ed.
Avg rates that weekend include $117 at the Hard Rock, and $152 @ MGM.

          b) Ticket brokers have seats available in all sections, at all pricing levels:

          c) More troubling, TicketMaster has plenty of seats still for sale and is still promoting sales for the fight.

          d) Some available seating sections have yet to be opened at all. Attendees of the Cotto-Margarito fight may be aware of how the MGM can "section off" some seats.

If this fight (which is expected to be a FOTY candidate) can't sell out, is that indicative of the state of boxing? Or more indicative of the inability of either Pacquiao and/or Cotto to galvanize fans?

          What are you guys hearing?
Just checked ticketmaster and this is what I got for floor level:

we'll tell you if we're able to find tickets..
          Your ticket request
Sorry, no exact matches were found, but other tickets may still be available.

          Try the following:
Search again Select "Best Available" or "Any Price"
Change the quantity of tickets requested
Double check your promotional code or password, if you used one
At the time of your search, another customer may have been viewing the tickets you want and then decided not to buy them

Keep checking back FYI: New tickets often become available for purchase as the event date nears.

You sure? I tried to buy one two days after they went on sale and only 750 dollar tickets were available.

At least they didn't hike up the prices as high as I thought they would

Isn't that a ticket liquidation site? Don't they buy from ticketmaster and sell them for a higher price or am I wrong?
